Line Blend or Fat-ypus L-toro?

Okay, so I'm looking for a park-all mountain ski for the coming year, and I've settled on these two skis, I can't seem to come to a conclusion, some help would be appreciated! A little about me as a skier: I'm 6' ,150-160 lbs, advanced/aggressive skier, I like to butter and press my way around the mountain. I ski at Hood meadows during the winter and ski park pretty exclusively at T-line in the spring. roughly 60-40 park to all mountain, in the park about 50-50 jumps and rails.

Why I chose these two skis: I like a ski with medium-soft flex, roughly 100 waist, rocker/early rise is pretty much a must have in both tip/tail. A ski that still has a decent swing weight for switch-ups and other rail shenanigans, while still being able to stomp 45 ft table tops. I'm looking at the 182 L-toro, and the 178 (or 185) blend.

I won't have a chance to demo either of these skis before the spring sales are dead and gone, so any advice/help to make a decision between these two would be awesome!

PM BloomOuterwear, I think he has a pair of l-toros.

Me personally would go with the l-toros, just because Fat-ypus is a smaller brand and they have somewhat better durability. Not to downplay the Blends though because they are both great skis.

Fat-ypus L-Toro! I got a pair this year and they are the best skis I have ever ridden. They do everything. Super light and super buttery and super poppy. They make everything fun. And the swing weight is super minimal.

whoa there. many think line lacks durability, but you have to consider more pricepoint park skis are not built like the wider, more expensive models. blends, bacons, prophet series, EP's have damn good durability.

i have not skied the L-toros but I have heard that they are a medium soft flex while I would consider the blends to be purely soft.

imo the softer the better. if you wash out, I say learn to ski centered.

buuump, I think Im going to go for whichever one is cheaper/I get to first, I'm taking a trip to seattle in 2 weeks and might try my luck with the blends at evo, any particular reason for me to not go for this?

skied blends and while super fun, I didnt think they could hold up to a 20ft straightair on the trail let alone a 45ft jump. the speed alone made them very unstable. if it were mainly rails that is a different story, but considering that and that I am much light than you, and that Delorme is proof that the L-toro can hold up on bigger jumps, I would go L-toro, pluse I am digging the feedback about all their skis/bbrand in general. Hopefully gona pick up a pair of g-butters when 178s in stock again and they arent full price

first off, sick edit, but that is clearly a pair of blends from next year, not this year. When I went to the Boston Ski Expo this fall, I talked to the northeastern rep for line and he said he was disappointed with what they did with the blends this year. He said the designers made is a floppy, uber playful wideass park ski instead of a powder/allmnt ski first. When he rode them, he liked the prophet series over them, and they arent even made for switch tricks coming from his words (of course they are still absolutely capable(Prophet series) I am 100% positive that line saw the error in its ways and made it an all mountain board with the paark slaying ability instead of vice versa. I also had the opportunity to demo the soft blends and as I said before, they werent even stable for ME. I am tiny (130lbs) so i unless this guy can get line proforms or an impossible deal on next years gear, I would go for the L-toro.

wait, I'm kinda confused by what you're saying, that was this years blend, same graphics and everything, unless you're saying that he was demoing a prototype for next year? Because the blend is back next year unchanged anyways, thanks for the input though! A playful/floppy park ski is part of what I'm looking for, but if they really are that unstable...

I used to have the Blends from the first year they added early rise. And I understand things have changed but I do have a buddy that got blends last season and they didnt feel a whole lot different to me. I REALLY liked them. And any ski can handle big jumps if youre landing correct. Sure some skis might save you a bit more but I think the blend will be just fine. Really nowadays all skis are so good you really cant go wrong with either. my $.02

Get the L-Toros. Super playful, super durable, and they shred it everywhere. Park or big mountain.

I love mine. I've skied Line too and can say that Fat-ypus makes a much better pair of skis.

you own(ed?) g-butters right, if so I am looking to getting a pair, but I don't know how the flex is. I compete and need a stiffer ski so I just wanna find out while deals are good

dont listen to this guy. blends are unstable? learn how to ski. they wash out? don't land backseat.

people like g russell have been sending 70+ft jumps at mammoth for years on skis as soft or softer than the blends. there's also this guy named henrik harlut. he sends it pretty big on skis as soft as the blends.

im not suggesting one over the other b/c i have not skied the L-toros, but seriously, don't listen to that guy.

be realistic man. do poeple go out and ski choppy snow going 50mph and hit cliffs while doing it on blends? no. I have, however seen people shred the fuck out of those exact conditions on l-toros. this guy only suggests super soft skis and every time someone says they are not stiff enough he says "learn to ski better". honestly shut the fuck up. you dont eve know me. I am a pretty damn good skier and nobody would ever argue with that who has seen me in person. My ski coach even said that no matter what kind of skiing i do, i will be good at it because my skiing level is so good. so im tired of you bullshitting everyone. and yes they are unstable for me. I went upwards of 50 on them and they were chattery motherfuckers. didnt feel secure at all. and every person will wash out hitting big booters unless you land perfectly every time (IMPOSSIBLE) with a super soft stick like the blends. im not saying they are a bad ski, but for what you are looking for, its not appropriate. Now when you brought pros into this, i just dont even give to shits about you know. THERE IS A REASON THEY ARE PRO. if everyone was as good as them, this would be a different story. look, dont be that kind of person that is just biased as fuck because they want everyone to be like you. please dont do it.

"My ski coach even said that no matter what kind of skiing i do, i will be good at it because my skiing level is so good" so you can successfully pizza down a run going 50mph, good for you. You now have to ability to ski down the hill you ski at in any type of condition.

Sa'll good man, everybody has some shitty times! Least you admit it.

Btw guys just bought me some el-toros! It's time to let this thread die!
