Line Blend Mounting

I just recently got a pair of 185 cm 2020 Line Blends, so they aren't the new model. I'm having some trouble figuring out where I should mount them. I live on the East Coast so I'm not worried about deep pow peformance. Should I mount them at recommended (-3 cm from true center) or true center. I'm 6'2" and I dont know if my height would play a roll in where I mount them. I'm typically going to ride 70% all mountain, 30% park (finishing up each lap with a park lap). My biggest concern is, will true center mounting my skis, noticeably affect the way my skis will feel on groomers.

Sounds to me like your not really a park rat, rather someone who likes to ski the entire mountain while occasionally jibbing a rail or hitting a jump.

I'd go with the recommended mount (It's recommended for a reason) or compromise with -2cm back from center.

You don't sound like you really need a true center ski, and honestly most people would never notice the difference 3cm in mounting direction makes including myself.

good luck foo

I'm 6'2" with 184 Blends from a few years ago. I had them mounted -2 before ripping a binding out. I put them true center after that and I think they're 10x more fun centered. Even as an all mountain east coast ski. The length is no problem for me.

a few years back my dad (overweight and over 50) shifted his bindings closer towards true center on his bent chetlers and was beyond stoked with how it felt. Center is more surfy

If you are riding 70% all mountain you should 100% not ride blends.

I’d have to agree with this, but since you copped them go -3 or -2. The ski has a HUGE sweet spot and won’t feel super different, but dead center is pointless if you’re not skiing park all the time. I have friends who spend every single day of their season lapping the park and almost all of them mount -2 on their skis. I never go further forward than that, I used to center mount all of my skis and realized that as I spend less time in the park, the less I enjoy being right in the middle. If you like to ski aggressively and carve hard being dead center doesn’t help you in any way, especially on such a soft ski.

So -3 would probably be the sweet spot for popping off side hits and weaving through trees. Will my weight be too far over the tips with my skis mounted any further. I've just seen so many different answers online with center mounting skis and the Blends in particular.

I just inherited some park skis that where mounted -5 for some reason. Mounted them true center and they are so much more fun all mountain and they still carve like a charm. I think that true center would be more fun if you want to play around, butter and hit side hits. If you want to carve get new skis that are stiffer like faction prodigy’s.

Yea I'm definetly not planning on really carving the ski that hard, otherwise I would have bought different skis. Really just plan on jibbing around the whole mountain and fucking around. So I'm thinking true center might be the way to go.

True center is definitely more fun. And if you won’t be able to feel much of a difference I would go true center because it will look better.

I have the same year and model, I mounted mine at -2 and love them for park and pretty much anywhere. I’d say no further back. If you’re only in the park Hitting rails tho I’d prob say -1 or -1.5.

the ski isn’t fully symmetrical so center mounting is kind of not the smartest. I messaged will Wesson and the line guys, a lot of them go full center., I think they’ve grown up with a center mount preference ingrained in them tho. Peyben from the bunch rides them at recommended -3 tho and he murders it on the blend.

I believe the 2021 side cut is different tho and should be mounted at center

I’m also 6’2. Dude if you’re wanting 70% all mountain definitely don’t go centered on an already soft ski. No idea why people are telling you to go center.

I've read the newschoolers and blister review and both of those had the Blends mounted true center without any real complaints. What would the real downsides to center mounting, especially to someone who has never ridden a twin tip ski before?

There aren’t any real negatives because both of those reviews are written from a day 1 park skiers perspective. If you’ve never ridden a twin A. The Blend was a terrible choice because it’s ridiculously soft and almost symmetrical and B. Mounting dead center is a horrible idea unless you’re spending all your time in the park. There’s no benefit to mounting dead center unless you’re Twig or you have multiple pairs of skis. Do what you want brotha but people on this forum have experience and know their shit so when we say “probably mount at around -2 or even recommended” I’d suggest seriously considering it.

I am a twig lol, but yea I’ll probably end up mounting -2 and if I ever get into park or get another pair of skis I will just get them remounted

No Twig is a person he’s the one who writes most of the Roofbox Reviews [tag=105085]@Twig[/tag]

2020 Blend Owner with experience with both center and -1.5cm mounts:

I prefer them at -1.5cm (halfway between center and rec) because I’m closer to the center of the stiff part of such a soft ski. When landing jumps you want to have more ski under your boot.

If you think your gonna hit lots of rails, think about it. 2-3cm is not a big difference and you will barely notice it. If this makes you feel any more confident I ride them strictly in the park and I prefer them closer to recommended.

Mount them rec or -2. I wouldn't mount true center unless you are going to spend most of your time in the park, if not all. Idk why people would recommend true center here... when you say 70% all mountain it's definitely not gonna be worth center.

You’re getting in your head, -2 will do totally fine in the park wether it’s rails or jumps. No need to remount. Again, check out peyben skiing the blend. He kills it in the park and in the streets, when I messaged him I was confused where to mount. He said they turn way better at recommended and that I should put it there... but I still went -2 lol. Seriously if you go -2 you won’t regret it no matter what you’re doing on the mountain.

-2 it is

I’m seeing some good takes here that are helping me move away from my center-mounted-I-need-symmetrical mindset. Just checked my blends and they’re at factory... looks like 4 years ago me didn’t know any different and apparently I’ve never noticed the 2-3 cm. Compared to my black ops (true center I believe) the ability to pivot is very similar (ignoring flex differences) which makes me realize 2-3 cm is very small compared to a 178cm or 186cm ski
