so y does everyone on newschoolers hate on these skis other than the fact alot of people have them and either way everyones going away from them i love mine and am looking at getting another pair cause they are durable fast pressy good on jumps so anyone give me a good reason to give me not to get them really look at the ski not who has them

This could be one of the most inaccurate statements on NS right now...no offense.

Afterbangs were designed and built to be use for urban skiing...and honestly, there good for that purpose. But as far as regular skiing, they horrible.

Durable...to an extent...but after 1/2 a season on them, here are the bases on mine when I had them:

Fast...no, just no...slow bases, run though wax (I had to wax them every night just to try and keep up with people). Not to mention they can't turn for crap...if you want to go straight, you'll be ok, but try taking a quick left or right turn and you'll hook an edge and fly into a tree or something...scariest skis I've ever been on.

Good on jumps? How can a ski that was designed and MARKETED as a "rail only" ski going to be good on jumps. Try and carve off a lip, you'll skid out or catch an edge off the lip...scary. Straight line a 50footer and MAYBE you'll make it to the knuckle...if your lucky. Land too far back seat and the noodle effect with wheely you out. Not even the Line team uses them on jumps anymore...

I bet you, if you rode something like a Rossi Scratch/S4 or Armada AR7 or an ON3P Filthy Rich and you'll think you're statement was the craziest thing you've ever read and you'll never even want to see an Afterbang again, let alone ride one...just sayin'.

well i hot waxed mine for two years striaght and i hit a 45 footer consistantly once i nutted up to do it and i carved into it and never caught an edge and my bases arent bad at all but i did treat my skis with respect and didnt throw them off rails when i didnt get it right all the problems are a few scrathes on the base no edge damage and top sheet wear but its a bangs that happened to everyone and they are good for me and my friend we can match our friends that have salomon suspects and rossi s4 jib pros all the way down the hill

I have to ask this question...and it's not to be a dick...but, how old are you? Cause you mention your friend has jib pros, which is a youth ski (coming in a max size of 148). It does make a difference because if you're lighter, you wont have the wheelie out problem bigger riders have and putting all your weight into a turn wont cause the same reaction to the flex and sidecut of the ski that a bigger rider would make. Not too mention smaller, lighter skiers go slower than bigger riders (that's just physics). So, you being younger could make the ski SEEM like a good ski...but in fact, they're still only really good from drop-in to rail to landing (i.e. urban skiing).

Also, I know quite a few of the Line riders personally, most of them prefer the likes of the Chronic to any other Line park ski (exceptions being Compton, Cole and Max..but that's for the butter factor for Cole and Max...and Ian will literally have fun on whatever ski he's riding and just doesn't care, haha). They all have a pair of Abangs, and all ride them occasionally...but for the most part prefer the Chronic (and really only ride the abang for urban and random jibbing around skiing...and for marketing reasons).

And, I hot wax my skis at least every other time I skis...and that's just my park skis, my other skis get a hot wax after every time I use them...so that wasn't the problem with the abangs...they just couldn't hold onto the wax, no matter how many coats I use.

well i understand and im 14 and his skis were 158 and i am real light compared to my height im 5'7 and weight 110lbs and i have seen alot of there pro riders on pretty much everything else but lj is skiing 60 footers from day one a 45 footer is the biggest jumps i get and and that might have just been ur a bangs mine held wax through out the year until march than bought wax and waxed it once and held that to the last day

Are you talking about the jump at Park City from the edits so far this year (the one he double backed)? Cause if so, that was only 30feet (I know because I hit it).

then look at windellls and the poor boys shoot thts a 100 footer and they are bigger jumps than i hit cause we might get a 45 footer pending on howmuch snow we get

wellstill i dont see why not to get them last year evey one was like i have to get new skis cause everyone has these but now that every one has different skis i dont see anyy other reason not to get them

why dont you just listen to flashkick? he knows more about skis then anyone else on this site.

and dont get them because your friends tell you to, or because its the new big thing. look for another ski IMO, the afterbang just isnt a good ski! dont buy a ski you will not be happy with within a year from now

I love my abangs. I have no problems with turning or speed, sure there a bit heavy but it's not terrible, the a fun buttery ski. I dont need to worry about jumps, I'm not that good, I'm not hitting giant booters, the ski is fine on 20ft jumps. and as long as your having fun on what ever kind of ski you have, who the fuck cares

If you love them, then rock them man, I'm not trying to talk you out of them, I was simply answering the question, you asked why people hate on them, and every reason I gave you was a legitimate reason to why people on here dislike them. Glad you're having fun skiing, that's really all that matters!

i am listening to him and he acually isnt saying dont get them hes explaining who they are good for and it discribes me and i already have a pair and i am happy with them

You have no idea what you're talking about. It is a physical impressibility for an extruded base to hold wax much at all (beyond one good ride), let alone for a whole season. And on the other hand, LJ does all of his real skiing on step ups (PBP shots?), which have sintered race bases and sidewalls for stability.

Yeah dude that sucks. I have the afterbangs from 2010 and after 2 years they completely suck. Since there all wood, they get waterlogged and are like weight a good 5 pounds heavier then when i first got them. The edges are also starting to come out of the ski and the whole thing is a bad idea in general.

this statement is so false its not even humorous. Thomas take Flashkick's advice he really does know what he's talking about. Ive seen your skis and they look fine. Hopefully our season will start friday...Have a good one Buddy :)))

I got the scratch pros in a 158 because the smallest adult scratch is 160 and the price difference on those is a $100 thats why i got the scratch pros

they looked fine last year the base after u went to sugar has a gash all the way down them and they are real small compared to last year and im going to ride them till they go tyler on me and they looked good cause i took care of my skisand didnt throw them around off everything

i got my abangs for 175. i am broke so really it was my only option. so far i am happy with them, but if you have the money, i would get something nicer.
