hahahahaha

vonn fucking rips. kind of pissed i found out early though, i was looking forward to not knowing the results before i watch tonight. oh well.

USA ftw

I saw it in glorious HD: that course looked awful.(it even sounded bad)

Despite that it was an amazing run by Vonn.

Only that poor pearsson she fell so hard.

Thanks for the spoiler... I was going to watch it tonight. I haven't looked at any new sites to find out who won..

hey way to ruin it for me before they are on tonight... make it a spoiler alert or something

anyone else get a feeling that the injury was only there to have something to blame if she didnt do too well?? cause if you can beat the worlds best skiers, you must not be hurt too badly....

so stoked on Lindsey's win! also.... remember Julia Mancuso got 2nd. this has never happened for the US. plus bode miller got 3rd. good start for US skiers!

What a soft twat she is, making up an injury just in case she didn't win.
And anyone who came to NS not expecting to see a thread on this is an idiot. Cry, cry, cry.

Definitely wasn't faking. You could see it in turns and also as she was coming down the final stretch. She was avoiding pressuring that leg in any way possible.

Definitely quite the athlete.

Just heard the course was 1.8 miles long, but this seems a bit much. With 1:13 course times, this would mean they skiers average about 89 mph. Does this seem a little fast to anyone else? Either way, these skiers are bad ass. Congrats to Lindsey and Julia.

insane that she pulled that off on that course, looked so painful without a bad shin. but i feel like nbc could have done a much better job producing that. it was like show somebody set a decent time, some crashes then lindsey's run then that german girls run then it was over. really didn't build any suspense and went by way too fast

i think it was overplayed as a factor..."shin bruising" aka shin bang. yes it hurts, yes its really hard to walk with when its a bad case as i assume hers was, but its definitely skiable with, i think we have all done it. i just dont buy bob costas saying how its a pain "no athlete has endured," come on robert. im not taking any credit away from the win, she took the risks and held on through a fast course that sent many crashing. she raced amazing. was a little curious why the course was so bumpy today? didnt seem to be that bad for men's downhill.

she was clearly favoring her inside (left) leg on left turns.

anyone with fifteen minutes of race coaching could tell you to not do that unless you're hurting bad.

i think it might have been blown out of proportion a bit, but i really don't think she was "faking".

same, so many spectacular crashes. don't remember the men having this many the other day?

Vonn had the perfect line, so aggressive and technically smooth

Hard to say just HOW bad it was without actually being in her shoes. I believe she actually had noticable swelling in that shin earlier on, which is beyond what most of us have experienced with shin bang. Keep in mind too that she is in a super stiff race boot skiing on insanely stiff mens downhill skis.

As for the course, the mens was choppy compared to most courses, but it was warm and the snow was actually quite soft. When it came time for the womens race, the temps had dropped, and things had gotten firm. Classic thaw-freeze cycle conditions. Even groomed out, it often leaves an interesting texture.

she actually had an operation to relieve the swelling of the hematoma (muscle bleeding) in her shin. i posted the full story like a week ago in the lindsey vonn appreciation thread titled "really ns?(lindsay vonn)

On the replay it looked like she popped the jump. The canadian announcer kept saying that was awesome and that was sick every time they replayed it.
