Limewire Legit or not?

tbh, i use limwire for all my downloads and i've never had problems...
(you just need to be a bit cautious, if you're lookin for a 3mb song from artist "x"and your first hit has like 46hosts and all the other hits are only 1 or 2 hosts, it might be a scam/virus/whateveralso if you're song is just 500kB you might be knockin on the wrong door as well...
so just be cautious with what you download! -that counts for the whole intermanets!)

limewire fucked up all of my computer, everytime we changed our computer, my brother would download it, and we'd get tons of virus and the computer would lag all the time, so definite no

did i say songs?i meant documents, i use it to exchange documents with fellow students....documents!:D

I have been using limewire for the past 3 years. I have pretty much gotten all of my music from there also, never have i gotten any viruses or anything from it. The only problem i have had is it dosent download ever song.
I have a mac by the way

Sounds like your family doesnt know how to use computers. You cant download viruses from Limewire unless youre a fucking tool and download .exe files and then run them. You cannot get viruses on limewire/frostwire if you know what youre doing.

You may get a bit of spyware, but nothing that cant be fixed with a weekly scan.

The only people who know how to use computers in my family are me and my dad, now i have my own macbook pro, and it works perfectly fine

Frostwire is an open source Limewire. Connects to the same GNUtella network, isn't restricted like Limewire Basic, and is great.

Of course you could learn to use torrents or newsgroups.

Frostwire is the exact same thing as limewire except, you get a turbo download mode which you can get in limewire but, you have to have to pro version. Frostwire has the same amount of trojans and viruses as limewire since the files are shared between the same p2p networks. Both are not legit.

You can download viruses easily with limewire or just searching the net alone. They are called trojans and malware which are hidden so you wont be able to find them. They usually never come in .exe files and are encoded in the files you download.

That's more accurate, that other kid doesn't know what he's talking about. I use a lot of torrent sites but I use frostwire to dl single songs and its worked pretty good. Like stated above make sure the song your dling has about the same amount of memory. Dling files with 500kb is asking to get a virus. As long as you are thoughtful when your dling you should be okay.

I was generalizing. If you know what youre doing you should never come across a trojan. I have downloaded almost my entire iTunes library from limewire/frostwire and never gotten a single virus.

If you download files with suspicious looking names/file sizes or shit like that then obviously youre going to have some problems... same goes for anyone who clicks on random links that look weird or clicks on any popup.
