Lifter or no lifter

I'm getting the LOOK p-10 Pivot bindings, whats the differnce between the P-10 Pivot Lifter and the regular P-10 Pivot? Is the Lifter heavier than the regular?

Thanks

Yeah dont get the ones with the lifter, their so heavy. I have them on my old concepts and they sucked. You should buy last years zrr bindings or this years p14's

no, only difference is a higher din setting

Damn straight things are happenin' in the midwest!

Markers don't suck!

also, the lifter has the lifter plate (duh) and is bad for moguls if ur into that, go with the non lifter-ive got the 02 p12 spacers, are those good?

yea the spacers are good bindings

i BELIEVE it gives you added height which allows for easier carving and what not

yeah supposedly you can get a more extreme edge angle with the lifter - only really helps if you are seriuosly trying to carve, like in gs or something....

but when I got mine I asked the same question (they only had the lifter version of the p14 in stock), and you can mount them without - just make sure they use shorter screws!

yah i have the p10s on my concepts and they're so heavy. i'm thinking about taking the plate off.

Just so you guys know, the lifter plate weighs something like 25 grams....which makes little difference when each ski weighs between 1500 and 2000 grams. The difference is more flex and better feel without the plate between the bindings and the ski.

Oh yeah, and a higher din does make the binding weigh a little more. You get a higher din by using a stronger spring (ie, more metal).

Whats the difference in price between the p10s p12s and p14s? And are you really gonna set your din at 14 or even 10 seeing that the looks don't pre-release?

Can you still ride in the terrain park as agreesively as if you were on the regular P-10 Pivots?

yo dude, big problem with buying spacers without lifters are... they dont make em anymore. tried to pick up a pair this week at the dynastar headquaters, but i had to 'settle' for a pair with lifters, they're actually not heavier, and cost the same, so i hope this answers your question

the reason that people use lifters is because it puts more pressure on your ski then with out one. Your ski and your leg are like a lever. with the lifter it makes your leg longer. this means that your focol distance (the distance from the top of your ski to your knee) is farther. which means that you are going to apply more force on your ski when turning.

impressive jibbernaught.

hmn, maybe the concepts are just heavy as shit then if the plates don't make a difference. or it's the bindings.

I've heard some people say they don't like lifters in the park and others say they can't tell the difference. What do you guys think, do you notice the difference between skiing lifters and not skiing lifters in the park? if you can't tell the difference couldn't lifters only help b/c when skiing big mtn., especially steep they can really give you more leverage.

i find that i can ski without a lifter. i have a bigger foot, which in turn means i have to ride a higher volume boot. now unlike probably most of the people on this board, i can actually carve a turn, not sketch down a slope.(i come from a racing background) because i have such a high volume boot, if i dont run a lifter, i tend to boot out alot. i would say try and get yourself about 30-40 mm or the ski, thats about what i like. currently i a running rossi race axial 140's on my scratchs, and p10s on my dynastar omeglasses (racestock slalom)

alright i had to order the lifters to cause dynastar was out of the spacers, now, I was told to NOT put on the lifter. If I don't put on the lifter, and just slap the binding on, that won't affect the ski and the binding? Also, would that be like having the p12 spacers, or would they be different compared to the P12 lifters, without the actual lifters.. haha.. my head hurts

the p12 lifters are the exact same as the spacers if you take the risers off. correct me if i'm wrong. you shouldn't have a problem mounting them without the lifter.

I think you are going to need shorter screws. Without the lifters those screws are going right through the bases.

that or just grind them down, i had the same problem when mounting up a custys skis last week, and then just too the grinder to the screws and took of like 6 threds per screw

thats such bs, cause lifters weight practicly nothing. Also i hate you park rats who cant carve a turn, and try and give advise. being good at sking doesnt always mean being good a flips and spins, you gotta get back to the basics

I agree. The other thing is I truly doubt you will ever notice the difference between lifter and no lifter except that if you are good at skiing, you won't boot out with the lifter.

last yr i got candides from five40guy and when i got my bindings they were p12 lifters... so i just emailed dynastar and they sent me a conversion kit... you DO need to get the kit to make a o12 or o14 lifter to a p12 or p14 spacer... the bindings don't work by merely taking off the lifter and trying to mount the binding...

yes they will you dumbass, i mounted the same situation up last week, only thing i had to do was grind down the screws, and use a small 1 mm lifter. conversion kit? yea i saposed you could order one, but its a waist of time
