Life expectancy of FT's

Yo,

I have a pair of classics that i've had for 4 seasons counting this coming up one, and i've heard of FT's falling apart or breaking. i was wondering what the chances of my classics lasting one more season would be.? Not really tryna buy a new pair of 600 dollar boots at the moment.

Both pairs of fts I've had lasted 5 or 6 years each at about 35 to 50 days a season. If they still feel okay then they're fine in my experience.

I feel like I remember Tom saying around 200 days?....just check the shells and make sure there are no cracks or obvious wear that could be bad.

Well really intution say you will get around 100 days from a liner so generally depending how much you ride two seasons will be about what to expect. But that is the liner and it's easy to replace if you need.

Shells lac will wear but it will depend how hard you ride. I used to get about two seasons from a shell before it got soft and not surportive enough but again that will depend how hard you ride. I know guys still riding shells from 4 years ago happily.

Im coming up on my 5th season and it is deff. time for new boots. Ive had to replace a few buckles but other than that, zero issues.

About 50ish days is a season for me, so 200ish days on my FT's so far.

200 days is (generally) the life expectancy of a boot. You will want to check the following:

toe lug wear (a shop has a tool to verify if the toes & heels of your boot are still within the Alpine DIN parameters)

shell for any cracks

cuff for any cracks

tongue for any cracks

buckles for any undue play or breakage

liner packout/cuts/holes (especially in the heel & ankle areas)

If your boot passes all of those then keep rocking it. Things are more apt to go wrong with older/overly used boots so just make sure to periodically check everything to make sure it's all still in proper order.
