Life after school

Right now im a freshman in high school, and every year it seems like i care less and less about school and become more lazy. i barely do homework anymore and for some reason i dont seem to care. i know it matters, but i just dont really want the normal "go to college, then go to a job i hate" everyday til i retire. im good at computers, and editing. the only things i really enjoying doing are messing with people at the mall, skiing, chilling, and editing. i have no interests that would get me a job. it seems like everyone else knows what they wanna do but im lost haha. school blows.

this, why wouldnt you follow what you enjoy most? for example my friend loves music but never thought hed be able to get a job..he just got an internship at a radio station that will offer him a job if he gets through school. and wait to you get to college and realize you cant not do homework forever

The only reason you're thinking that is because you are a stupid 15 year old, I'm sorry but its a fact. I thought the same things when i was a freshman in high school all up until senior year, then i realized that school actually does matter and its pretty much the only thing that does matter realistically. Tough it out and get good grades so you have something to fall back on. Just my advice.

This guy knows whatsup. for real. I didn't try much in high school and ended up going to Comunity College and then transferring into a big 4 year school. Many people will tell you this is the route to take but dont listen it sucks. Transffering into schools sucks. Step up your shit try a little not hard to do good in high school and get decent grades. You wont regret it in 4 years

this. but when you get a chance to go to school, invest in something you like doing. Just because you go to college and get a job doesnt mean it has to be doing something you hate. youve got like 8 years at least to totally figure it out. just relax

I've felt this same way for most of my high-school career. Now being a senior i see how glad i am i did decent in high school and i didn't figure out what i enjoy doing until last year. And im sure you'll want to experiences college im already getting so amped for it. Just ont fuck it all up in highschool.

Keep pushing through, in two years if not one you'll start getting core classes that you enjoy. Like I've always been math and science oriented and hated school because neither of them challenged me and weren't anything real interesting. But this year as a Junior i got into Physics Chem and Pre-Calculus. Their hard challenging classes but so much fun!!! This probably isn't you, I'm a weird breed, but trust me there are classes out there that you'll enjoy.

Look into the electives you can do, like woods, art, foods, editing, photography/video. When you find an area you like look at your core classes and their application to it.

Examples:

I'm into Woodworking, I use math and Physics to design projects.

Culinary: CHEMISTRY CHEMISTRY CHEMISTRY!!!!

Art/Assisted Design: You can look at Lit & Comp or English and see how authors express themselves and then transpose these concepts into a visual art.

Video Editing/Photography: This is all about capturing emotions and feelings in an understandable way by the viewer, which is all that Writing is.

You just have to broaden your mind which will come as you mature. And trust me it will, I used to be like you but now I'm trying to decide between like 8 options after HS.

yeah man i am only a few years ahead of you and i wish i hadnt fucked up so hard in the past, highschool is so easy so just do it and you wont fuck yourself over.

This. When I was a freshman, I only got to choose which language I wanted to take + one elective. Now that I'm a senior, all of my classes are ones that I have chosen to take, and school is so much more fun.

Take classes that interest you. Stuff is a lot more interesting and fun when no one makes you do it.

You sir, are filled with such sound advice idk what where you get it. Probably experience.

On the other hand, i feel you. Thats why im moving to norway getting a subsidy from the government to "live" and will be skiing every day i can out my back door. Follow your dream, doesn't matter how you get there. Just make sure it's achievable.

When you're a senior in high school and all of your friends are getting into college and planning their futures, you're going to wish that you had tried in high school (because high school is fucking easy!) and left yourself with options besides joining the military, smoking meth, or knocking up some fat chick, because that is basically what happens to you if you don't go to college.

If I were you, I'd consider joining some school club or something (ie, sports, band, choir, drama, robotics, debate team). I joined choir my sophomore year, and it really turned my life around. All of a sudden, I had a reason to be excited to go to school, and I made tons of friends that were outside of my usual circle of likeminded unmotivated friends. It changed my perspective on the person that I could be, and made me much more self-confident. Something to think about.

That is a hobby that you can get paid for. Dont drop school...

There are many opportunities out there and you are still really young

You're experiencing something that most kids coming out of high school feel. Just mull it over, ask friends, ask your parents, eventually, before it is too late you will know what to do. Trust me, I went through the exact same thing. If you're anything like me (lived in "regular" middle class family, been going to school since I was 6, etc) you won't be ready to live on you're own in the free world, it's possible, but it will be unnecessarily difficult and you'll eat/live like shit. My advice: go to uni, its a good buffer, and you will have lots of challenges that will prepare you for "life after school".

When you finish highschool just drop out and by yourself a nice couch, that way you can support your family.

Yeah I feel ya dude I hated highschool, I never really put the effort in I just wanted go graduate an move away so I could ride bmx everyday. I had no intention on going to college until my senior year. The thing about college is you mostly take classes that you like, if you like computers and editing start looking into that, you'd probably be amazed that you could actually like school when you're learning about things that interest you. And even though it seems like forever now but seriously four years of hard work at college is going to benefit you for the rest of your life

do tar, so much better. But not really

and Jakx I feel like were the same person but now Im a freshman in college and still cant figure out what sort of career or even major I want to have. Im super into math and physics and those were my favorite subjects, (well, along with ecology) but I feel like Im not really sharp enough to keep up with the other people that are really into this sort of thing.

Quite smoking weed and take up Coke. Seriously if coke wasnt bad i would do it everytime i had an essay or a big assignment.
