Liberals approve resolution to legaize weed

why so hostile? politics has always been a nasty business, try not to take it personally. power shifts in governments periodically and the conservatives (with any luck) will not be in power for long. also if this bolsters enough support from the public maybe other parties will consider it for their campaign. this may also prompt young adults to actually vote to help offset the huge mass of conservative albertans pushing for oil support. I like it, although he isn't even the leader, just the mere idea of legalizing weed to gather supporters is definitely a step in the right direction

I can't see this as being anything more than a shot in the dark by the Liberals to gain some ground with the far-left. If/when they get back to power I reckon wild promises like these won't be on their agenda.

of course this is an attempt to win votes, of course they're trying to win seats again... why wouldnt they? its the governments JOB to do what the people want. So why are people deriding them for adding something to their platform that people want done? In addition, why would they not implement this policy? Both them an the NDP have continuously given the conservatives flack for their criminal policies, legalizing something - which the majority of politicians usually end up admitting they used at one point (which totally reeks of hypocrisy) - which would cut down on the illegal drug trade and stop sending people to prison makes total sense with this issue which they have been pressing for some time. This isn't some back of the book issue which will be pushed off the agenda, this is serious shit, I definitely think if they get back in power, they'll do their best to pass this. just my humble opinion.

In addition, as much as I liked the NDP in the last election -especially Jack Layton, RIP - I'm not a fan of the whole two party polar opposite party system of the states, we should have a centrist party.
