Lets Talk about Tattoos

Are you tatted? What was the inspiration or event that made you want to get tatted? How long did you wait from inception to get your piece done? I'm just curious about it and have been thinking about it myself and wanted some of your perspectives.

Not tatted yet, wanna get a few though to represent my grandparents after they pass and i wanna get one once i turn 18 for my great aunt

my friend also has a stick-n-poke tattoo of her favorite band which we expect will make a bad album sooner or later and she'll be fucked

While not above getting one, I don't feel I have accomplished anything worthy of tattooing on myself permanently

tattoos will weigh your soul down and drag you to hell, i will leave my body pure and unmarked so i can ascend unto heaven unlike you godless heathens.

uh oh sounds like some plagarism bro, i already notified your school and your fired.

I have lots. I got them because I wanted them. People will make up all sorts of shit about why and for who, blah, blah.... The fact is people get them because they want them. Don't bullshit. Sure I have stories. I got this one for my buddy that passed, this one reminds me of my............... I got my first one because I thought chicks would dig it. I was right. So I got more.

I want to know how the drunk hipsters in Salt Lake City can afford to cover themselves with tattoos but still need to bum a cig of someone.

I have a complete full-color sleeve on my left arm, a chest piece, some unfinished work on my back, and a small finger piece.

There will be more.

Eye tats are the new thing all the young uns are doing, OP should get one

Got one legit one right now, but I have a stick and poke too.

The only reason I haven't gotten more is because they're so damn expensive. Me and my mom are getting matching tattoos soon though and I'm so excited. I love the feeling of getting a tattoo.

Also I completely disagree with anyone who says tattoos need to mean something. Yes you should definitely put a ton of thought before you put anything permanent on your body but if you want to get something that looks good and that's the only reason you want to get it, then don't let the bastards get you down man.

I have two, one on my chest, one on my wrist.

I got my first as soon as I turned 18, my first week of college; at a shop located next to a dispensary, above a bar.

If you are questioning it at all, the design or the placment, wait and think it out more. The oppurtunity will always be there. Make sure it means something. Anyone can get an owl or a dream catcher. Make it your own.

I have a couple ideas for tattoos, but haven't gone through on any of them yet. Perhaps I'm overly cautious, but I plan on printing out my designs and hanging them on my bathroom mirror for 6-12 months - if I still like them and find them meaningful after looking at them every day, I'd feel more comfortable having them done.

My favorite idea (and the first I'd get) is two triangles on my ribs. To describe it in an overly nerdy way, it'd be the border of two small, distinct 30-60-90 triangles with the root(3) sides facing each other. It stands for symmetry (re: "I Believe in Symmetry" - Bright Eyes). Ideally, my cousin would get the same thing on the opposite side so that when we stood side-by-side, our tattoos would also be symmetrical.

Deep dude, i'll get that quote on my neck

Getting my first one in December probably. My wife is currently working on the drawing for it - she went to art school and I couldn't think of anyone better to do it. I'm getting a mountain range on my inner left forearm. Only reason it's taken me so long to get one is cause I'm in school to be a teacher and the student teaching requirements are SUPER strict on tattoos (like way more strict than any school system) and I didn't want to force myself to be stuck in long-sleeves all semester in fear my university supervisor would see my tattoo (my classroom teacher doesn't care at all ironically).

definitely one profession where tattoos are still a bit taboo. When are you done? and where's your student teaching assignment?

Yeah, it's becoming more lax in the schools, just not in the education degree programs. This is my last semester (finish in December). I'm at Pine Grove School in Avon.

I have my mountains on my chest and I'm waiting to get my next one from a friend of mine that's been putting out really good shit.

Although Dan Brown still has the most legendary tattoo...

I got my first tattoo on my 18th birthday. I got it cause I'd been thinking about it for a while and then my mom got one and said she would take me and pay for half of it for my birthday so I got it. It's my medical ID. That was almost five years ago and I've gotten a lot more since then.

I have a pretty shit large tattoo on my calve. It's a dali elephant. I got it before there were any other dali tattoo elephants on the internet to look at. So when I OK'd it, I didn't realize it was about to be the worst of them. Anyway, I don't look at it as a bad decision, I look at it as a reminder of a really fucking great time of my life where I made poor but awesome decisions.

The elephant and the oblisque are fine, it's just the legs that are crap. I figured out that it will be about $800 to get 2 of them removed and then about $200 to have 2 added and the other 2 fixed. Soooo at some point down the road I can spend $1000 and have a tattoo that I actually love. It was free to begin with, so that's not completely terrible considering the size. Or I might not. Who knows?

I don't have anything yet, but as time goes on, I've been considering it more and more. I feel like I'll either remain tattoo free, or go big(ish) and get a full shoulder/half sleeve thing. I'm just not sure what I want and that's what's holding me back. Also, using my money for more practical things like a down payment on a house or crap like that.

I always thought the mountains plus forearm idea would be a good one. I really like this one.

I want to get "sapere aude" tattooed some day but I'm not quite sure where to get it or what sort of typeface would be best. I was thinking block letters on my chest would be easy but I'm not sure.

Sapere aude is Latin for Dare to Know. Kant is a bad ass.

I am soooooooo tempted to get a tattoo...There's just something holding me back still; money or something else.

I want to get a wolf on my peck and EST. 1992 on my shoulder. I have a few more ideas, but these would be my first two most likely.

the wolf is kinda getting overplayed recently, thats imo, but if there is a deeper connection then go for it. but honestly u just gotta make an appointment and just do it. don't think about how much it will cost just think of what you want fora long time and go for it. we all end up looking wrinkly and shitty anyways so why the fuck not
