my parents ran a rental shop and used them for bindings. we still have one of the old brochures. from what I understand basically you had 2 retractable leashes under your boot so when it came off they would put the ski back on.

seems interesting but I'm a little scared of what would happen if you started tomahawking

I wish I had a photo, but I used to have a neon pink Spyder jacket when I was like 10. Thinking about it makes a cringe.

they were supposed to release sideways at the toe and heal (normal bindings only do toes) thus completely eliminating acl tears

unfortunately most of them were shit and line went bankrupt

They also sat about 1 inch off the top of the ski they were mounted on. They did have a cool 4 screw feature that allowed you to mount your own bindings if you had the line skis of the time with the inserts, very similar to a snowboard.

my friend had line elizabeths (which were sick skis!!!) that had pre-drilled inserts meant especially for these bindings. There were other line skis with the pre drilled pattern as well. If these bindings didnt blow it would have been a game changer.
 
haa I rocked those red Koflachs when i was younger. They literally exploded into a thousand red shards on a cold day. Like, blew up leaving just the liner, which was also hard as a rock.

Awesome! We have a similar 5-buckle Koflach boot kicking around our boot office.

Random history lesson: Atomic acquired Koflach Boots in 1989 and our current Director of R&D for Alpine Boots (who came from Koflach) has been in game since 1980. Crazy to think he's been perpetuating the evolution of the ski boot industry ever since I was born.

my only pair of boots, not super old but old. transplanted some parts from a pair of donor raichles. I still get comments (not necessarily compliments) on them all the time
