Lets build a jump this weekend!

It's kinda like the 5/20 thing at Bachelor except not organized at all, and no sleds.

We need to get a fat crew of people to meet up at the Timberline parking lot and hike up a ways to build a kicker. We would just meet in the parking lot and go from there. Everyone bring a shovel your own lunch and whatever else you want to have for a jump session.

We will probably only be hiking a maximum of 15 minutes so it won't be that bad. My friend and I are going to get up there at about six leaving portland at 4:30 so that we can start building before it gets to hot out. One of us will come down to the parking lot at 8:00 to meet up with whoever gets there late and lead them to the jump. We will also have salt so that we won't have to worry about the speed.

If you can come make sure you bring a shovel, your lunch, and lots of water cuz you will get thirsty!

If you think you can come PM me or send me an e-mail at drobesity@gmail.com for all the info because this thread was not very well put together.

YAY, everybody let me know when you are planning on getting there too. (Preferably pretty early so that we have more people building)

I would love to be involved, but Alpental is still open, and the bc there has better terrain and a lift on it. So I'm staying here this weekend.

Not sure if this applies to where you guys are going but you should know:

From NWAC

A major change in the weather pattern is about to be

experienced over the Northwest Thursday through this weekend.

A strong ridge of high pressure and warm air mass is about to

move over the region. This is expected to cause sunny hot

weather beginning Thursday and continuing through the weekend.

Freezing levels should rise to near or over 15,000 feet over

much of the Northwest by later Thursday and stay nearly that

high through the weekend.

This upcoming hot weather is expected to cause a widespread

spring avalanche cycle in most areas starting Thursday. The

relatively prolonged hot weather should melt and weaken

significant near surface snow and allow melt water to possibly

percolate to deeper older weak layers. This is most likely on

slopes facing the sun but should also be likely on any steep

aspects. Deep avalanches are possible. Some slides may release

to or near the ground, involving the entire winter’s snowpack.

The expected large wet snow avalanches may travel very fast

and run long distances, possibly to lower elevations where

little or no snow cover may remain or to valley floors.

We do not recommend back country travel near any avalanche

terrain Thursday and Friday and possibly through the weekend.

Initially small wet loose avalanches may trigger large and

deeper wet loose or wet slab avalanches. Back country

travelers should also avoid slopes below cornices or gullies

and flat areas below avalanche run out zones. A lack of

refreezing at night may contribute to the avalanche cycle.

Remember that boot or ski penetration of more than a few

inches can indicate snow is becoming significantly unstable on

steep slopes.

^Yup, that was what I was afraid of... The canyon by the parking lot is not steep, but I can still see some parts sliding. I'm not sure if I'm trying to go anymore

hmmm thats kinda a buzz kill. timbo still looks like it would be pretty fun if their upper park and nicer tables are still set up

^Haha Will you's a fool, but i still think we should do it, cuz we'll just do it on a place with a gradual slope near the resort, away from the canyons.

Sorry there aren't any sweet action shots, but they didn't upload from matt's camera for some reason, so when they are up I or Matt or someone will put them up.

yea for sure. i can vouch though, i saw the booter later in the day when things got too slow, and it was fucking gnarly. i dunno if guz has a pic from a better angle, but it's not a joke when he wrote 50ft rock drop. if you even come slightly close to not completely clearing. you'll be hitting rocks. i wish i was there to hit it but o well. hopefully this can go down again later this year.

Here are the action pics, there are only like 4 though.

hey, the footage i have didn't really come out cause of some zoom issues with the people operating. i want to see the footage from across the canyon since that was a better angle.
