Less and less Bio's...?

I have been seeing less and less Bio's. Everything is corked.

I feel like most of the Bio's I see now are from big mountain guys throwing them off cliffs. Bio's are so sick though. Just watched BELIEVE and there were some super smooth ones in there.

Thoughts?

The way most people set corks on tramp can be turned into a switch bio technically. Maybe it'll be the trick of the future.

They look sick. So unfortunate that they are not done as much anymore.

Also does anyone have a video of one done on a park jump? I know AD did one in After Dark but any others?

This is the Delorme one by the way(1:51, and I actually just realized it's a switch bio):

Bios are dope, unfortunately they are also hard to do well. If I remember correctly this bio 14 that henrik did didn't even score well, and its such a hard trick too.

Prime example of the effect that judging and the olympics has on our sport. Why do a bio 14 when you could just do a double 10 and score higher?

Thank you OP.. I have been thinking this for the past couple years. who cares about double/triple cork? I wanna see some triple bios!

I feel like people don't do bios because they have to learn an entirely new axis of rotation, which is fucking hard to do. They would much rather just do the double variation of the spin they're used t, its like the kids who can do a left dub 12, but can't even consistently right 9. I honestly think spinning on different axis and doing different tricks is just as important as spinning both ways.

Bios are the first off axis trick my friend learned on snow. It's the same as learning how to cork, rodeo, etc. Just learn them all at the same rate, and it will be no different from learning anything else.

Throwback Tuesday... here is a video of CR doing a bio back in 2003. CR owned the bio and is, IMO, the reason it is a credible trick to this day...

agreed. Anyone see the CRJ Documentary? a) it was awesome and b) it was full of sick Bios. That's what made me think of this thread.

Henrik's bio 14 from x is one of the most underrated tricks of the last two seasons I'd say. I can't believe he got shafted on it at X, i guess it just shows how double and triple orientated the sport is now. It's like if you don't get inverted multiple times it doesn't count...even though this trick is damn near impossible

bios aren't that rare, but I wana see some more dspins

/images/flash_video_placeholder.pngat 0:30 so fucking sick

The reason why the bio 14 has been overlooked is because its not that well executed. It doesnt have henriks normal style and he doesnt go that off axis. His bio 10s are amazing compared.

Bios are hard to learn. They are scary. And i assume going dub bio is even scarier.

He got so robbed with that. Literally doing shit that nobody else in that comp is doing, not to mention nobody else in the entire skiing world, and he doesn't even make finals. Yet somehow PK makes it in doing the same tricks from 3 years ago.

yah i honestly feel that vinny gets shafted at big air comps. I can't think of a dub harder to do than a dub bio octo lol, maybe a dub 7 or frejs dub 9 safety to blunt

that clip of tanner from believe is a rodeo 7 and the clip of the guy hitting chads is a cork 7

jesus christ people get your shit straight. i have no idea what the difference is between a bio and a d spin, but i know how to separate them from a cork or a rodeo...

also is it just me or do you pretty much have to spin over a 7 to do a bio? i feel like you have to get a sort of regular spin going (no inverting) and then dip at the right moment like delorme's bio.

a d spin is just a cork 7 that is super inverted and really flippy. I think its dumb and they should just call it a cork but hey . . . didn't make the ski rules

Im not saying bios are harder than corks, I'm saying learning multiple axis of rotation is hard. I feel like rotating on different axis should be worth just as much as spinning both ways, how many X games runs do you see with more than 2 different types of rotation in them? While you may see all 3-4 different directions, almost all of them are extremely similar rotations to eachother.

Thats why i like watching henriks slope runs, he's always doing something different, bios, flats, butters etc. Just my 2 cents.

idk, IMO this seems more like a dub rodeo to me... dub bios, I'm not so sure about. Rodeos and Bios I will say are very similar, but it depends on how they are set, whether or not your right shoulder is being thrown down while doing a left spin(bio), or if left shoulder is being pulled up while doing a left spin (rodeo).

Again, my opinion and might be straight up wrong.

i agree, bio's is super sweet!

but i also disagree, not everything is corked, especially the dubs are not.. To few throw thru dub corks (like PK Hunder and a very few more)... everyone throws them inverted, which IMO is not dub cork, corks are not fully inverted!!

Perfect bio by PK at 2:07 btw:
