Lent.

So its that time of year again. Just wondering what, if anything, the other Christian's of NS are giving up for Lent this year.

I plan on sacrificing soda and ordering food late night(aka drunk food which, will also be coupled with eating healthier in general). Also debating whether or not I want to give up masturbation, too. I think it'd be cool if I could pull it off but idk if I can hold off for that long.

This year is a little bit more important to me anyways as my 21st birthday falls on Easter Sunday (April 8) so I feel like keeping true to my sacrifices for Lent are a little more important as I plan on doing a fair amount of "sinning" at the conclusion of Lent.

Also, last year's thread on got off topic really fast so I please ask that you keep your "fuck religion", "there is no god", etc. comments to yourselves. Its all just disrespectful and unnecessary.

If you dont have anything positive to contribute, dont contribute at all.

Never understood this whole thing...giving up some sugary substance or carbonated beverage because some guy died centuries ago? not seein the connection

You don't need to be Christian to give something up, it can be good for you. I will not be giving anything up lul

I usually give up smoking weed and drinking for lent. my 21st birthday is the end of march though so I will probably take that day off. Lent after parties are always the rowdiest after no drinking/smoking for 40 days.

Its disrespectful to say that anyone who doesn't believe in your religion is condemned to eternal torture. So fuck christianity and fuck god.

I am giving up auto asphyxiation while masturbating for lent. Feel like every time I am choking my self while jerking off and screaming HAIL SATAN god isnt too stoked.

I think the idea of giving up something works well for kids, but as you grow older, other things become more important to focus on. It is a time for reflection and contemplation, so it's easy for us to just give up stuff so we can understand it's impact on us.

HOWEVER, my proposal for this year is to spend the next 40 days caring. i.e. giving a shit. If you don't know what you care about, then figure it out. I wrote a further post on it on my website Are We Failing Ourselves?
