Lens Recomendations?

I am using a t3i right now and have a rokinon 8mm fisheye and a kit lens. I want a new lens for video for the season preferably with a low f-stop. I am also looking to buy a mic. Any recommendations on either of the two? I know rhode mics are legit.

First step up from 18-55 is the Tamron 17-50 f/2.8 non VC.

I have the 15-55mm kit lens right now. my budgets about 200 but i would spend more if there is something thats worth spending more on and a good deal. Im probably just going to sell my 18-55 for like 50 bucks on craigslist or ebay. Im not looking for a zoom just a lens with sharp images thats better build than the kit lens. and a low f stop

For video its a good idea to look into vintage lenses because; smoother manual focus, longer focus throw, better build quality and their cheap.

Ive heard that rokinon makes 35mm and 85 mm primes which are good, check them out

a lens to do what though? you dont just say you need a vehicle, your looking for a sports car, a minivan for the kids, a truck for offroading... so what do you want to do with this lens... film sports, interviews, people, narative...

buy my sigma 18-50, f2.8 - 4.5.

better build quality doesnt extend when you zoom.

yeah this is a great lens. much better lens than the kit lens (Better build quality, image quality, faster f stop, and only a bit more expensive). later you can upgrade to a 17-50 2.8

I wouldn't do this, skip the medium upgrade and just go for the tamron. The sigma may be decent, but the constant 2.8 on the tamron is so much better. Not extending when it zooms isn't really a huge benefit.

the sigma focuses extremeky close. its almost macro. that is a worthwile function right there

really? Mine focuses only as close as the normal canon kit lens, like a foot away at closest maybe

Pretty sure the tamron focuses 0.27 vs the 0.28 of the sigma

If your just starting off and want convenience you might just want to get the 18-135 kit lens and a 50 1.8 or some vintage 50mm or 35mm fast prime.
