Hey guys, so I've been looking into buying a wide angle lens for my Canon t2i.

Ive been having trouble picking the one i want. I can spend at most 175 on it,

I would be using it for things like shooting the night sky and other stuff

Any recommendations? would appreciaite it

Thanks

Tokina 11-16 is a pretty standard lens for wide angle use. If you are willing to spend more than 175 I am sure you can find a used one for 300-350. I just sold mine for 325.

You've gotta spend at least 300 or so, unfortunately. Nikon and Canon offer jack squat as far as affordable wide angle lenses for crop cameras, and the ones they do have are horrible compared to the Tokina offerings like the 11-16 and the 12-24.

for 175 your best bet is a Rokinon/Samyang/Bower/Vivitar/ProOptic fisheye, probably. Otherwise, the wide end on your kit lens is your best bet for an affordable wide angle.

This was the best I found on the fisheye. 189$

OK, Thanks man

If you're using the lens specifically for night landscape stuff I'd check out the Samyang 16mm f/2.0 ED AS UMC CS lens. It's an EF-S lens so you'll get 16mm on the T2i vs. the image being cropped by using an EF lens.

Sayang/Rokinon lenses don't produce any coma which is especially helpful for clear night sky shots. Here's a pretty helpful article about night sky photography and coma.

The lens is $369 new so if you're lucky you could probably pick a used one up for around $240ish.

The initial issue for the Rokinon's at night is you have NO idea where infinity is for focusing sake. They aren't factory set with hardstops.

I guess you could always take it out and check it in the day to make a mark, but that's difficult to do on the T2i from what i remember from my 35mm f1.4
