no man, i don't think u have the weight to work a 179 properly. even if u do grow into it there is no point buyin a ski u can't use now. just my opinion

Well if you don't plan on buying new skis in 2 seasons, definatly go with the 179, the shorter ski is better for you now, but you will learn to deal with the extra length. You might feel out of control for a while, but you learn to fix that, and will most likely make you a better skier.

Skierdood: You're 6'1' and you only ride 181's? Sheesh... I'm 6'4' and I ride 193's (going with either a 191 MadTrixx or a 195 Bandit XX if I have to replace my Dragons). Of course, I can only afford one ski, so a narrower (75mm waist) ski that is longer would take care of my at home (the east) and still give me enough float for the pow out west...

dude- don't be a fool. Get 169's. I'm 6'0' 185 and my skis for groomed stuff are only 170. If you're getting a wider ski, 179 will be way too much for you, even if you are gonna grow. If you're going to ski off piste a bit then you need to invest in another pair of skis down the road when you get money. There is no shame in having 2+ pairs of skis for different conditions. My POWDER skis are 180 and not to toot my own horn but I can hold my own.

i would hope you could hold your own on a 180, seeing as you weighe 185 pounds. Not to toot my own horn.haha.

Well if you need the skis to last, I think you will want the 179s unless you wish to dish out more money in the next couple years for new skis. The skis will be a little crazy the first couple times, but as long you are a good skier, you will learn to handle the 179s and eventually you will grow into them. NOTE: Take all of our opinions as a grain of salt, you know best on what to get.

169's are more than fine. you'll be pretty stable going into hits with that length anyways. if you need to take it into the pow, most twins have waists akin to mid-fats anyways. or a good idea is to buy a last-season unused ski for the resort, and a used ski for pow if you don't roll in dough. i know where i live you can find '02 Bandit XX's for like $250 cdn.

I'm exactly your height and weight, (actually 6'00, but height doesn't matter for skis really.), and I had 183 enemies last year because everybody told me I was going to grow. well i did, but the skis were still too much length for me. now i have 165 concepts, and they are perfect. definitely go for the 169's.

parker, don't be gay. you're the one who asked the question and I gave you an honest opinion, i think if you're gonna ask for help and someone is nice enough to provide you with it, you should be greatful.....not a cocky piece of shit. I've worked in a shop for all my life, take my opinions for what they're worth to you. If they're not worth anything, then don't bother posting questions like that.

I have a nice fat powder ski in a 180, a more than sufficient size for my weight in deep snow. If you're getting a decent mid fat and you only weigh 140, even if you grow you'll want a 169 for the park. If you find them to be unstable as you're weight increases find a nice used pair of XX in a 180 for $250 cdn....

i'd say go with the 01 mike nick ski boards....pretty sweet ski and i think they would fit u well. ahahah (lots and lots of sarcasm)

school sucks. end of story
