hey gaiz, so i plan on taking a year off after my bachelor degree. what are legit and cheap ways to spend the time between september and december and between april and july (will be working at home/ski resort during winter)?

what have you done? traveling? like a ski bum working just enough to be able to ski maybe it would be cool to work somewhere in the sun and surf or whatever?

tell me what you did or give me general ideas. i am from europe btw.. any idea that doesnt cost too much money is appreciated. 1 month here, 1 month there or 4 month at another place, i dont care. gimme cool stuff.

i predict two answers, a bump by me and over again. to raise awareness, i will go with this:

fuck i love corgis. i don't have any answers for you, but i will also help raise awareness by posting this:

So first of all the most expensive part of traveling is getting to where you're going....ie the plane/train/car expenses.

As such I'd recommend not trying to leave wherever you get once you get there.....so go to SE Asia and tour a bunch of countries like Thailand, Vietnam, Laos, Indonesia etc where you can realistically, and enjoyably, live for $20/day.....if not cheaper.

Or go ski bum somewhere good and don't drink alcohol, eat only pasta and eggs, and chill.

Look into volunteering in a poorer country, I know in South America (flight for you probably too much though) you can volunteer at different places, such as schools, animal shelters, towns, really anything, and yeah you gotta pay to live, but in some countries its so poor, they say if you want dinner have 3-5 dollars a night, if you want the top of the line dinner have 6-7 and if you want a beer have an extra dollar for 4 beers (euro is probably similar). So living would be cheap, you could rent a house for i think 200 a month, with a night time watchman (like for the block). And you would be volunteering and making a difference. I'm sure there's endless choices, it's just a matter of finding the right one....some are for a week, some for a month, others for a year....
