Legal way Americans can acquire a copy of that Rare Wu Tang album

I kind of hope this doesn't work. I mean ya I want to hear the album and I know a lot of other people do to, but I really like the concept of this album. It's one of a kind, a true piece of art, and the buyer of that piece of art has complete control of it. Personally I think it's a really cool and very creative idea, something that is very monumental. The whole idea has really intrigued me and I was very interested in how the whole situation would turn out (in terms of who bought it, who gets to hear it, if/when/how it would be released to the public, etc.). The buyer themselves could even get really creative and produce some really awesome outcomes from it (for example, donate $xxx amount of dollars to charity and you get to hear it, or hold some crazy contest and the winner gets to hear it). But for the album to be released through some sort of weaselly legal procedure kind of takes all of that originality out of it. For me, that would ruin the whole point of the album.

Anyway, i guess we'll just have to wait and see what happens. Even if it does come out, fuck it, new Wu-Tang to listen to.

Unless the buyer is a piece of shit

I get your point, however. The owner of the album is Martin Shkreli.

Also the first article I posted was a link to the story where they are still trying to figure out whether the album was purchased with illegal funds that he got through the scam he had set up.

Let's say someone else bought the album there's no telling what they will do with it. They might do the same thing. Everyone wants something that's one of a kind, and the people that have $2mil to drop on an album are probably going to be the type of person that is going to keep it for themselves. I mean I could be wrong, but do you think someone would want to buy something for $2mil just to depreciate it's value? I would, but then again I don't have $2mil to drop on an album. lol

This is news, haha

Damn! They should still try and seize it... No way of telling if it was purchased with illegal money. hahaha

Very true, and maybe my opinion is a little biased because

a) I wasn't expecting to hear the album anytime soon, so I wasn't getting my hopes up to hear it until at least a few years from now. As you said, someone who has $2million to spend on an album probably isn't going to release it and depreciate it right away. If it were me, I would only release it to the public after a couple years have passed and I had my fun with it.

and b) I don't exactly share the same hateful opinion on Shkreli that almost everyone seems to have. The fact that he owns it doesn't make one difference to me.

Shkreli is such a piece of shit. Anyone that's a fan of his is either

a) a piece of shit

b) retarded

c) all of the above (most likely)

Thank the Freedom of information act for this one. (not entirely sure whether you will be able to, but someone is attempting to obtaining a copy)

Follow this link for instructions: http://motherboard.vice.com/read/legal-ways-to-acquire-that-wu-tang-album-that-dont-involve-bill-murray?utm_source=mbfb

Anyone think this will work? Anyone here going to attempt this?

Its just a stupid marketing stunt but a good idea b/c Wu Tang hasn't put out anything good in over 20 years.

I really don't give a fuck. This is just stupid. I mean good marketing because they're getting a ton of hype, but this hype is just stupid.

Every time it goes away and people move on they bump it back to the top with some more bullshit.

Nobody cares, it's probably not even good, and I actually like wutang. If it get's released probably give it a listen, but Jesus fucking christ, people are overhyping the shit out of this.

Inb4 it's not even real or something else stupid. Either way, I don't care, and don't understand why this is "news".

hahahah this album is such bullshit. No one gave a shit about A better tomorrow. Like it had some cool songs but nothing that would ever receive mainstream recognition. But all of a sudden only one person can hear once upon a time in shoalin and everyone is freaking their shit.

I hate hype based on low production. I mean, hype for things is fine, but when the hype is almost 100% based on their being a limited amount that's just dumb. Well to me, I'm weird so that means nothing.

If they had released it normally from the start, without the hype train, how many people that care so much about it would have even bought it? Hell even listened to one track from it?

Like I get why paintings and sculptures are so expensive. Because you can never how hard you try recreate it perfectly. But when your medium is mp3 it kind of ruins the whole only one being available thing for me.

Yeah. There's a beer near me ish called Heady Topper. It's good, don't get me wrong, like really good, but they make it in small amounts and keep the hype wagon rolling. People sell it at shows across the country for 8-12 a can. I mean it's like $3.50 for a 16 ounce can when you buy the packs so it's not cheap at the start but, $12 for a beer? Also there could be another beer equally as good getting sold for 3 or 4, but people want to drop $12 to the hype mobile.

Idk, maybe im just cranky because I moved back east and the weather hates me. I wish I could drink heavily.

Nope you're 100% right. It's basic supply and demand. If you can convince people there's minimum supply they'll pay extra. Da Beers diamonds is a perfect example of this.

Yeah, way better example.

My friends travel the country and some of them the world mining/buying/selling gems and making jewelry Some of the gems they show me are fucking epic, and though driven up an extent by the trade, are still very reasonable compared to diamonds.

If I was ever going to get married I'd get something like that. Get something that I'd rather buy, while also supporting somebody personally on their art, while saving a billion dollars.

Sorry, I'll shut up now. I need to find a non snow dependent hobby.
