Legal pill that will make you pass breath test even after 5 pints?!

Interesting. It seems to block absorption, so it would limit intoxication as well.

I don't see this as a way of evading drunk driving charges, but more of a way to be able to enjoy the taste of a few pints without actually being affected by the alcohol.
 
If it's in your bloodstream it's going to come up on the test, at least I would think. Don't see how this will keep you out of jail if you're drunk. Unless it breaks the meter
 
i guess all they do is trap the alcohol in your tummy, so it doesent go in your breath, but there is still alcohol in your bloodstream so it would only help if you took it before you drank.
 
The pill blocks absorption of alcohol into the bloodstream, which effectively means that you are not getting drunk either.

This issue is not at all about drunk driving being acceptable or not. The issue is whether a substance that limits the effects of alcohol should be allowed.
 
Word, that seems like a shitty idea. Whats the point of drinking extra alcohol if it's not going to do anything to you.

LSD would help you pass the test other than the breathalyzer. I wonder if it's like that in that it's in you and when the other drug tapers off you feel the effects of all the booze.

I don't spend money on beer to not get a nice buzz, that's just burning money imo. Oh, yeah, hold on while I buy all these drinks, then spend MORE MONEY on these pills so that I can negate the effects of the money I spent on booze.

I love a good buzz as much as the next guy, but I also do legitimately love the taste of some high ABV beers (I know you do too) where two 20oz. 9% ABV beers on an empty stomach in a short time could put you in a position where it could be unwise to drive for a short bit.

I wouldn't buy it as I practice self-control, but I don't see how this condones drunk driving though since the users are not getting drunk in the first place. If the science backs up the product ad the product is safe for consumption, allow the marketplace to decide that there is no value in such a product.
 
those pills do not sound like they are very healthy for you at all. I wonder if the also block the absorption of essential nutrients too

As a side note - in France now, it is law that every driver must carry a personal breathalyzer with them in their vehicle so they can test themselves before driving. You will be fined if you do not carry one.

Thing is - if it just temporarily stops the absorption of alcohol in to the blood stream, how long will it sit in you system? Wake up to go to work the next morning - pill wears off and boom - you're shit faced... ?

 
23 pounds per pack, doesnt say how many in a pack. and no i do not wanna drink and drive. but it'd be nice to be able to drink 3 or 4 brews and not stress on the drive home. but no more. i would never risk other people lives due to my mistakes

50% of what goes into the Daily Mail is utter made-up garbage.

But if these things work...that is awesome. I'd love to be able to crush beers while i'm skiing and still be legal on the drive home. Say what you will about how irresponsible it is to drink and drive, its not about how much you drank that day, its about how drunk you are. And if these stop you from getting drunk then everybody wins.

I've actually wanted to own a breathalyzer. The law these days has really nothing to do with you being too drunk to drive. It's are you at that magic number, and there's really no way to tell. I haven't drank in a year anyway so I don't need one.

It's kind of dumb that it's a law to carry one. Simply making them more readily available would be better than forcing you to buy them
 
This hypothetical pill blocks the alcohol from being absorbed through the stomach lining. So it wouldn't make it into your blood. It would just be milling around in your stomach waiting to get you really drunk when the effects of the pill wear off.

gosh thats weird. when do americans start drinking on average. the age here is 19, but i'd say around 13-14 years old is when kids start to go to parties and drink.

you guys start 3 years on top of that or what?
 
I started when I was about 14 and a half. Luckily ar6rider used a totally unrelated picture to "strengthen" his point. I'm glad he knows how to use the facebook machine like every other 12 year old girl
 
What if they had arenas for drunk drives to enter into with other drunk drives and drive through obstacle courses/crash derby, that'd be fucking sweet. Natural selection on an entirely new level.
 
I think everyone is misinterpreting this. It says that it blocks the intake of alcohol through the stomach, so, correct me if Im wrong, its not making you magically blow a lower BAC, but making you sober up. Also Im not sure if I trust this cause its from The Daily Mail and there full of shit sometimes.
 
youre so cool. i couldnt care less if some fuckhead drives on a remote street where definitely no people are and kills himself.

but risking the life of someone else because youre too cheap to buy a taxi or designate a driver or whatever is just not cool or fun or whatever.
