Learning to ollie

So, I got a skateboard, started messing around and can now ollie about a half inch up, some of the time.

This seems like somthing you just need to hit over and over until you get it wired, but does anyone have any tips for getting it right? 'Ha ha, you suck' comments welcome, as long as you throw in something useful with it.

 
its going to take a lot of time and practice. once you get it down though, you will be able to do it everytime and it will be worth it. since i dont know what you are doing, i will just tell you everything i know.

first, you want your back foot pretty far back, make thhe outside of your foot line up with the edge of the tail. second, make sure you slam the tail hard enough. once you hear a click, immediatly tilt your front foot and slide it forwaqrd while brinign your knees to your chest. one major mistake everyone makes is that they try to do it all too fast, try to make it all one smooth motion. once you reach the peakk of the ollie, extend your legs and land. your front foot should be near the front bolts and the back one most likely moved up a bit. hope this helped, good luck and keep trying

I could ollie like 6 inches high in 5 minutes on a skateboard, once you get the basic hang f it its easy

When you pop, i find it helpful to 'point your toe'. Instead of just pushing with you legs, push with your legs and push with your toe by pointing it, i found i got a hell of a lot more pop that way. Also, if you're having trouble with the sliding part, just stand with the board back on the tail and just slide your foot like you should be over and over, that's how i learned the motion.

^that and kickflips...but learning to ollie took a lot less time then learning kickflips did, and i've since forgotten how to kickflip

If you ever catch on fire, don't look in the mirror, cause I bet that would really throw you into a panic!
 
after u can ollie the kickflip will come then itllreally be hell

i can't kickflip and it pisses me off! most of the time i can flip it but ican never land it i always either flip to hard or to little or it jsut goes crazy.

back foot on tail front a little behind the front bolts. In one motion, slap your back foot down and slide your front foot up to the nose. The key is to get the motion down...practice practice practice i learned on carpet in my basement. this helps......

ive bee nattempting kickflips and finally did it, but it was on the grass. whenever i do it on the blacktop my backfoot wont stay on the board. any pointers. and also, yea, i still suck at ollieing

I can get the board uo, but the nose usually ends up rotating behind me. What am I screwing up?

the nose rotates behind you? ii might be mistaken but sounds like a pop shuvit. or do you mean tail? if its the tail then the board isnt staying with your feet which means you may be jumping too soon or not extending your legs at the right moment or enough

The thing you really want to do when you ollie is pick up your back foot, cause if you dont you wont go up, and when you do it will follow your foot. Ollieing is about one fluid motion. Also, make sure you center your board.

what you wnat to make sure you do is that you line the part of your foot right up inbetween the two bolts and if you are moving you want to be able to see about a half inch inbetween your foot and the tail.

trash.. im not sure iof you are understanding... tail is the back nose is the front. you say you meant tail which makes sense but then you also said that the tail is the front.. im lost man

well it took me a littl while to learn ollies, but right after that it took like 20 minites to learn kickflips and shuvits...

anyone have any tips on ollying while moving fast? anythign different i shoudl do?>

concentrate. thats the main thing. i mean im not great but ollieing is what im best at and enjoy most. just concentrate and do everything the same exact way you do it when you are stationary

it took me about 2 months to get my ollie above a foot then about a year to kickflip. but once uve got those down everything comes much easier. i learned 3 flips in about 2 days a couple weeks ago. so just learn ur ollies and k/flips faster than i did.
