Learning how to double frontflip?

I've been thinking about this one for a while. I'm stoked on taking my skiing to another level and I have decided it's time to learn doubles. I look at the double front as a way to progress and eventually be able to do double corks. I'm just afraid of the commitment, I think. If anyone here on the forum knows how to throw one, it would be great if you shared your experiences. What was it like the first time you tried it in the park? I reckon everyone who stomps this trick tried it in BC first? How do you know when to open up to slow the rotation and land? Well, I'm pretty much wondering about everything that has to do with this trick. Thanks so much for any help.

Do it in BC first. Not hard. do it on a tramp into a foam pit. It will be the same feeling as on skis into powder. You'll get them if you have enough air. Go for a jump that is more poppy.

The rotation on skis is identical to doing double fronts on a diving board or trampoine. Just build a 50-60 footer on a decent powder day and send it.

For dub fronts wat u need to be able to do is either do them on tramp or from tramp into foam pit. If u can do this then just huck it off a 45ft or bigger table in the park u'll prob land first or second try i landed it second try. Otherwise if u have powder even better. They're pretty easy just huck it and don't freak out. If u freak out u r fucked. Once one of my ski popped off on the lip because i set it a bit hard and didn't have my dins high enough but i didn't freak out and i just landed on one ski and then slid out so it was fine. Be comfortable in the air... thats the key

My 2 cents

They teach you to dub front by getting you to superman after the first flip so you can spot the landing, then tuck and huck the last flip

I coach trampoline, and I have taught alot of double front flips. I know it's not skiing but I'm assuming its very similar. If I were to try one on skis I would go through these steps.

1. Make sure you have them down on trampoline.

2. Make a good size pow jump. The bigger you can make it while keeping it comfortable to hit the easier it will be as you won't have to throw it as hard and have an easier time be able focus on what your doing and where you are in the air.

3. Start with singles. Do a bunch get a sense of how much air time you have and visualize how hard your going to need throw.

4. Once your comfortable go for it. Remember it is a blind landing trick so stay into your flip until you can see the ground again. Doing them off cliffs into water and tramp and other stuff I like to get a quick check as my stomach is coming flat to the ground this lets me control the rest of my flip and put it to my feet. Another trick is when you have lots of air time and aren't super hucking you can look under your arm pit for the ground.

Everyone at my hill was throwing down double fronts yesterday (Wisconsin). We have no back country. A 13 year old got it on a 50 footer, just huck and you'll get it

the hardest part is that it is blind the whole way through. You have to feel where you are in the air and trust it with your air awareness. I got it second try. First try I knuckled the jump. I have a video on here of one of mine if you want to watch it.

Pretty sick, wish I had jumps like that anywhere near my homemountain. Was this the first time you tried it?

No. I had them off diving boards years ago, then a foam pit, then a ski foam pit, then on snow. I had already learned them on this shot.

i like how you celebrated with the spreads. if i stomp a trick, you bet im finishing the jump line with screamin seamens. respect.

haven't tried it on snow yet but i got em on the tramp. the only problem i had was under rotating and landing on my back halfway through the second flip. Just commit to it you and you'll stomp it. ghood luck.

COMMIT COMMIT COMMIT COMMIT COMMIT COMMIT.

listen to your favourite pump up song. go up to the lip huck, when you feel the first one go round keep going
