Last Freeskier Sucks

The last freeskier of the year sucks. Way to go freeskier, emulating ski and skiing. No one cares about stupid top 10 lists and shit like that that change every issue, and from magazine to magazine. We all know mammoth and whistler have good parks, we know tanner hall is good. How about some interesting articles? or event coverage that isn't just a calendar for upcomming stuff? Get your shit together. Also you need to have some quality control with your ads too. Most of them make skiing look stupid, and they too bring down the quality of your magazine. Now that you're the only major publication covering what you do it's time to step it up. Better photos would help too, and more of them, and not just the top ten guys. Also please never cover ski-base/skarachuting as it is the stupidest thing to ever happen to skiing. More shots of people getting worked would help too, and more girls, and other stuff outside of skiing that relate to your readers too. Basicly try to maintain your profeshionalism, and copy freeze. Because right now, reading freeskier is rather boring.

I agree with phrosty. I have always felt that freeskier is boring.

I know kamakazie hates me for my remarks about Freeskier.

But Phrosty, they have way more girls in their publication than any other skiing/core sports related magazine I have seen.

i am an avid supporter of fs but the lists are gay and dont change. and i still havent recived the last isssue. bastards. there needs to be a revamp in ski mags. thres alot of talent in the area of ski movies but not mags

aside from ask brad i think freeze has more stuff to read than just look at. if you want to look at girls buy something like maxim or stuff, not a ski magazine thats trying to be something like maxim.

^If you're taking suggestions, I would recommend using more of each page for content. 'White' space is crucial for readibility and rhetorical balance but Freeskier has excessive amounts. Freeze was exactly the opposite--they had too much shit on the page, there was no balance, and they didn't have a solid formulaic layout for each mag. Oh, and the text is SO SMALL. I have great eye sight (so far...) and I can read it but Christ it makes it a pain in the ass. It looks like 9 or 10 point. The articles Freeskier does are great, but there needs to be more of them. Filling the magazine up with more non-ad related content would be the shit, however, I understand that you have to have ads to run the show. I'm not saying cut back on ads, but rather use the space you have more effectively.

the january issue was pretty sick I thought. I havent gotten the february issue but I am usually pretty happy to see freeskier even if it is bad because it is something about skiing that I get to read

Okay, so 59 out of 114 pages are ads. (And taht is being generous.. I only counted full page ones)

It's the smallest magazine i've ever gotten. I don't understand how the earlier season editions can be almost twice the size... after all, isn't January the heat of the skiing season?! They should have tons of things to talk about.

Let's just say, i was VERY dissapointed...

And no, you didn't say Freeze didn't run top 10 lists, but you said Ski and Skier did. You alluded to it.

After thinking about it... I have a little more to say on the subject.

On a positive not, I think freeskier has been doing a great job taking over where Freeze left off. I love there photography and the overall presentation of hte magazine. It's clean, *shiny*, and it comes in cool plastic. The photo annual was INCREDIBLE!! Some of those photos completely blew my mind. I also really like the artciles and things that have been in the issues earlier this year. My grip isn't with the Freeskier crew, or the magazine but more specifically with this issue.

I really feel like they did a half-ass job of putting this issue together. It's almost 1/2 the size of the previous issues. I don't understand how they had more to say back in November than they do now in the heat of the season. It could be that they were just too busy covering comps and other events happening as January was a really busy month... Either way, this issue left me rather dissatisfied and I hope they can pick up where they left off ..back at the photo annual.

I thought the last 4 freeskiers were amazing. Then the feb issue came really late compared to all the others and it sucks bad in comparison.

The only thing I like is matt harvey's articles and the cover shot. The wire updates are 5 weeks to a year behind and the ads are taking over.

The black and white issue was a great month I wander what happened? The editors really fell off for the end of the year I am not impressed. Axis reigns supreme.

 
he could make alot of money if he does make it..i cant say anything about the february issue because they havent sent it to me yet
