Largest Pipe Ever?

Oh my....Go to stratton, go to the sunbowl, look at the US Open Pipe (also vt open pipe). I have never seen anything as large as that fucking thing. It looks so perfect. I would guess that the walls are atleast 25-27 feet. There is a quad next to the pipe, The pipe is as tall as the lift polls are. I will have a pic up by tuesday.

east coast superpipes suck. they cut them like a U-jump the bigger they get. who wants 4 feet of vert before the lip? H A L F P I P E. means the bigger they get, the more tranny they should have. You can pop like four feet in and still ride away...its so sick.

yea they are gonna design it wrong because this isnt one of the biggest snowboarding competitions EVER. the shit is gonna be insane. perpare for 25 foot airs. i cant wait to see the skiers and maybe even me get a whack at it too.

it's a zaugg pipe cutter. it's 18 ft tall plus a 4ft vert extension. the extension is a piece of crap. every mt that tried at 22ft got rid of the extension. Sunday River, Okemo, Breck and Mammath all ditched the extension. The US OPEN has been cut with the standard 18ft zaugg the past two years. Who ever said earlier that eastcoast pipes suck was pretty much on the money, thats why for the last 6 years stratton has contracted the pipe construction of the open to legit west coast pipe builders. For years it was Melandoski of High Cascade Camp/Olympics fame and this year it's Snow Park TECh aka 'Gunny' and his crew from places like Bear/Summit, Mammoth and Breck. The last time Gunny and crew worked back east was constructing everything for the x-games at mt snow.

Okay I think I was exagerating a bit just because I only saw it from the lift but I'd say its atleast 22 feet. Here is a pic from strattons site...

Um wow...I forgot to mention about the slopestyle course that is under construction. I saw a 100+ ft table into an 85+ ft table. Wow.

yeah last year after the open i rode it, it was the nicest pipe i've ever been in. I'll be at stratton the whole weekend so if anyones goin let me know. Plus i'm skippin school on monday just to ski the thing it looks so perfect

actually hooter(stratton park manager) does most of the work building that pipe. I am sure others help, but hooter definately knows what hes doing.

doesn't stratton usually have 3 pipes by march? they used to have the 2 superpipes and a regular, but i think they have that bordercross course where the regular pipe used to be, so now they just have the superpipe at the base, and the new one for the open... i wish they still had the regular pipe for us pussies.

Sorry, but I can guarrantee that Hoooter is not building the open pipe. He most likely is 'helping' but the construction for the Open is contracted out just like every major event...the Triple Crown's, Grand Prix's, World Superpipe championships, X-games, European&Nippon Open and the Artic Challange all contract the job and there's only 3 guys that have been doing it the last 5 or so years.

that pipe was decent if you knew how to ride it. riders in the triple crown were not having any problem getting out

i hear mammoths pipe is 22-25 feet, and Breck's is only 19-21, i have skied it. That stratton pipe tho looks huge!

That and the doublekink are part of the course for the rail jam friday night.

The mondo trapezoid is part of the slopestyle course. Also for rails, a 30-40+ foot downkink. (2) 30 ft flatbars. And many other rails.
