Laptop

So I just enrolled in a high school online class. It's a semester class and don't have a laptop to use for it. Right now I'm using school computers and my families desktop but having a laptop would make it 100x easier since I could work on it from anywhere. The issue is I only have around the $800 range to spend. I would like to have word or pages, PowerPoint, and excel. This laptop I will use in college starting next year and need it to last for another 4 years. I know $800 isn't a lot but thanks for the help in advance! Any stores you recommend looking at please say

I was thinking that but that but would prefer something. I'll still consider that. Were would I find a refurbished one? Apple store or online?

do not. I repeat. do NOT waste money on an Apple product if all you're going to use it for is word processing and browsing internet. I just spent $500 on a 14" vaio that seems like a really well built machine with i5-3210 processor, 6gb ram, 750gb hd, usb 3.0, 7 hours battery when using it for word processing, etc etc. there is no way you can even come close to a deal like that on even a refurbished Apple product. their cellphones even cost more than that new.

For what it looks like you'll be using it for, I recommend a 13" Acer or something similar that'll have amazing battery life, all the memory/processing power you'll need, very portable, and cost $300-400

No, i do not, but I have a lot of experience with Asus.. they are very well built, good price and yes I would agree with VinnieF, although you have $800 dollars to spend, I would maybe consider spending lower, considering you only need it for word processing and such.

If you don't mind the screen being much smaller, go with a 13 or 14 inch screen for better battery life (college and stuff) and get at least an Intel i3 processor.. I would recommend asus, but lenovo is also a good way to go. Get at least 6gb ram, it will be better in the long run, and 750gb hd would be good (you will use the space eventually)..

other than that, look at tigerdirect.com or newegg.com.. they usually have the best prices and knowledgeable reviewers

lol yea the cheapest you can get with a refurbished mac is about 500 bucks for an old one with core 2 duo and 2 gb ram. haha
