Arite so im getting a new laptop for christmas and im not sure what to get. I was looking at the macbook air and macbook pro but im still not sure what to get. IM using the computer for alot of video editing and for school also. and it suld be below 1500$ thanks

why would you even consider the macbook air then?

if you have the knowledge then get a macbook pro, but judging by this thread things seem a little iffy
 
go with the pro, the air has poor performance compared. All you are paying for with the air is the solid state drive, and the skinny package which you don't need.
 
never ever even consider getting the macbook air. It probably wouldbn't even be able to run any decent editing program... the only benefit is that its slim and looks cool which is just stupid. Get a macbook pro 13' or maybe even 15' if you can afford it. You'll be getting so much more for your money. I would even consider getting a 13' macbook pro and upping your memory to 8gigs if its not too expensive.
 
thats why I put pro in quotes

your referring to the slightly upgraded MacBook with backlit keys and an aluminum body.... nowhere near the performance of the 15" and 17"
 
Maybe I didn't read that right... I guess you think the 13' doesn't have a good enough graphics card, but considering the knowledge this guy has about computers and editing, I'm sure the 13' will be fine
 
it doesn't even have a separate card at all, and it has an outdated processor compared to the 15" and 17" models

I hate the 13" pro but it makes Apple a lot of money from the crowd that thinks its a huge step up from the polycarbonate Macbook
 
I have an air and I can run cs5 and final cut pro at the same time with no problems.

DEFINITELY not saying not to get a pro though, I just didnt have the money for a 15"+ pro or else I would have. So my advice, Get a Pro if you have funding.

 
i have vegas pro 9 right now on a different computer and does the mac book pro have final vut pro or do u have to hack it?
 
MacBook Air is useless. If you want to run 4 programs at the same time, or have anything besides word documents saved, MacBook Pro is the way to go.
