Sorry, I am on my phone and didn't want to type a ton.

You can also find info on why it is controversial by googling Landmark cult.

From what I understand it is a cult-like pyramid scheme program. Their "forum" class is their intro class where they try to "break you" emotionally and mentally. A lot of people say it is abusive.

From what I have seen they either drive you away and you leave before finishing the first class because you don't buy into it, or you get sucked in and then they end up wanting you to sign up all your family and friends as well as take more advanced classes yourself.

My good friend took it like 6 years ago and has basically either convinced or brow-beaten everyone she knows into going. She has also attended all of their courses, spent a shit ton of money on it and it is all she talks about-- though is about as vague about it as their website.

Just read an article on it, tons of people in the comments talking about brainwashing and having friends and family members changed... Seems like a creepy culty scam to me

^that's what I've gathered, too.

Wondering if anyone on NS has any experience with it.

If anyone has time and is interested, here is an article and an excerpt from it. The creepiest thing about it to me, is how seemingly intelligent, level-headed people seem to get sucked into this company likes a religious cult. It seems similar to scientology--but, major companies, such as Reebok pay for their employees to attend?

"By the last night, people are pledging to invite everyone they know. At the end, Willmore scrawls on the board the phrase LIFE IS EMPTY AND MEANINGLESS, AND IT'S EMPTY AND MEANINGLESS THAT IT'S EMPTY AND MEANINGLESS on the board, and the room goes nuts. Everyone's getting it, even a brunette publicist who complained earlier that she felt like the "bullshit police" -- though, as Willmore says, "there's nothing to get."

"For six months, I was just hooked," says a recently counseled Landmark participant from Denver, Colorado. "My parents kept pushing me to do it, and I thought, 'My God! If everyone did this, there would be no need for drugs, 'cause the euphoria is just so . . . euphoric!' I took the whole 'Curriculum for Living,' assisted constantly, and even dropped out of school because being a medical assistant wasn't 'extraordinary' enough for me. Then I had a miscarriage. I missed a seminar because I was grieving for my baby. When I showed up the next week, the leader said, 'The good news is the loss of your baby doesn't mean shit. What does mean shit is that you have gone outside your integrity because you missed your seminar.' "
