Hey guys, I'm currently a technologist living in Vancouver, BC looking to get my degree and Lakehead is looking like an option.

I wouldn't really be looking at skiing, but more the general scene of the area. Does anyone have any experience at this school?

There's definitely a really chilled out scene here, especially amongst students. Lots of outdoors stuff to do that seems to keep most people laid back.

The school itself is pretty sweet too. Small, and most profs love the area and can really focus on their job (so they do pretty good).

I go to UBC in van, but Ive spent my summers just outside of thunder bay since I was really young. I can't really speak for Lakehead too much, but my cousin went there you should PM him with some questions (username: tbayskier). I'm personally not a fan of the city of thunder bay. The 'party' scene is kind of funny to me there. Lots of 'tough guys' causing commotion, I'd say its a lot different than Van in that sense. There are definitely a lot of unique people in tbay though which is great and it seems most people can bring something unique to the table. Definitely a good place if you're not afraid of the cold and like the outdoors. access to some sort of boat is a must!

as for skiing I think the most reputable ski area there would be loch lomand- awful park if that's what you're into, but definitely enough little hits and jibs to have some fun. definitely a big racing scene there too.

I'm from Thunder Bay and went to lakehead as well as seneca/york.

The park here actually has had some major major improvements this year, it's still not as good as it should be but at least it's passable now. If they had one or two more good jumps then it would be good. The rails are getting there though.
