Ladies Supporting Ladies

In case you ladies missed it.

It is the snowboarding world after all.

Desiree Melacon is basically a no-fucks-given type of lady in the best of ways. She throws down with the guys every day, gives herself some gnarly injuries, and is genuinely passionate about what she does in snowboarding.

She's currently traveling the country visiting every resort in the US to bring awareness and thanks to all the little guys, the mini shred spots, and the local shops that are the backbone of the ski/snowboard industry, but easily fall to the wayside and are dying off. And she's going to write a book about. bad ass.

Needless to say her speech at last night's best female film part for 2015 gives a no-fucks-given awe and an all ladies support style that I totally dig.

Is it cool to write about snowboarding on a ski website? prolly not.

This was definitely one of the coolest things ever! For those who don't know Jess Kimura's back story, she is in my opinion, the best womens' street rider out there, who finally just started getting the sponsors and exposure she truly deserves at the age of 32. She lost her boyfriend of many years, last year in an unfortunate motorcycle accident. They were each others everything from what I hear, so losing him was super hard for her. She still managed to put down one of the heaviest video parts I've seen this year. Definitely her best riding yet, despite her hardships. On top of that I met her at SIA this past weekend and she was one of the most humbling individuals I've encounter. She's been one of my biggest inspirations to take my skiing to the streets. Stoked you posted this!!!

I've been following Jess Kimura for years, because when I snowboarded I rode Capita boards and she's been on Capita for a while. She's such a fucking badass and has been in the industry dropping heavy edits for years, I think she's a real OG in the women's street snowboarding scene. I didn't know about the situation with her boyfriend until this happened, though. That video made me cry tbh
