Ladies men - forum category?

So, ladies men group used to be part of the cults... and its chock full of really good insightful information that could probably stand to be better broadcasted as a normal category...

As of right now, its only really accessible to people who had already joined it a while back... and even then, only accessible if someone actually finds a way to post within it...

any way that we could move this into being an open category for all to access?

I have a feeling a bunch of people who used to post in LM probably don't want public access to their posts from 10-15 years ago.

wait, we can access content from old cults that we were a part of??? how?

i'm still put off by the removal of cults and don't want to accept that it just doesnt work with the new code (or something like that...). i feel like making the effort to bring them back would help keep people on NS rather than drifting away toward instagram and reddit or whatever.

That ship sailed awhile ago my dude, there were only a couple of cults still being use when they got cut, tbh the use was declining since like 2010.

Do you know if all the data from cults got trashed or are they still being stored somewhere?

it looks like if you google "*insert cult name here* newschoolers" then the link to the old forum comes up. for example here is my treasured build a jib culthttps://www.newschoolers.com/forum/1453/Build-A-Jib-101

i think cults made ns way more personal and contributed a lot to some members' interest with the site. although i suppose one could just create an NSG thread for each of these topics and let er rip

They did, in 2008. The usage of cults (and this site in general) is far lower than it was 15 years ago, sometimes you have to pick and choose what to develop and support, everything costs money.

certainly.

as an aside, can you shed any light on the manner in which The Enthusiast Network distributes funds to NS? like is the NS team given much freedom to decide what happens with the site or is it mostly directed by TEN?

TEN doesn't exist anymore, they were bought by AMI a few years ago. Budget is allocated by NS but the overall amount is decided by the parent company. NS can try to influence where money is put, but there is a point where saving money in one place (not updating cults/removing them) can help add more money to important things like content.

I was directly instructed NOT to dredge up old threads by that ^^^^^guy

Yeah posting "bump" in random threads is annoying as fuck
