Ladies in the Park

Hey ladies, most of the people on my mountain that ski park are guys. I see some girls from time to time, but not too many. Also, there are a ton of douches at that ski resort who make a huge deal every time fall or mess up. I try to ignore them but it's pretty annoying and lowers my confidence a little. Am I the only one that experiences that, or do the same things happen to you ladies? Also, does your home mountain have many girls in the park?

It happened to me, and it's a bit discouraging but you just gotta keep your head up. Find a friend that you can take into the park with you if it's possible.

My home mountain is known for their park, so everyone is in it.

My home mountain is Perisher in Aus, and everyone there is pretty chill. Pretty much no ski girls, but a bunch of boarder girls. I see lots of guys filming them and cheering them on. It's awesome.

Keri Herman now comes down to Aus each season, and most of the time, she is riding solo. She will always catch up with people at the top but then she will put her head down and work on her own stuff. It's so sick. She has it balanced, friends and dedication. You have to be able to block other people out and just do what you're doing. Ignore those dick heads. They're not worth your time.

My home mountains have very few to no girls riding there regularly. There's a few boarders but almost no girl skiers. The first year or so Thst I started park it was really hard, I had no one and pretty much just had to try and teach myself. Luckily I met some awesome people who have become my regular crew now and it's fine.most people are pretty stoked on having girls in the park. You just need to tune out all the negative, do you.

Last year at my hill the only girls who rode park were me and my best friend. It was awesome, but lame. This year I'm a part of a ski club in college and I'm gonna try to get a few of the girls to hit some of the boxes(maybe rails)/ jumps. I think a lot more girls would enjoy riding park if they had someone to help them out. I'm all for spreading the stoke!!

ha, you know i grew up with two brothers and my older one always told me i wasn't good enough because i was a girl, since we were toddlers. that probably affected me the most. now i ride mainly with guys, and my bf is pretty much the person i ride with all the time. i see mainly guys in the park. worst thing ever though, i was waiting for my bf and some dickwad snowboarder pushed me.

but to add, find a group and try to build confidence and be encouraged. the people who matter most are the people who care about you. strangers can think what they want. but fuck em. i ride with guys who are way better but i feel bad for slowing them down every time, but they don't actually care.

Yep. This. I started park when I was like 14 or 15 and I wasn't terrible but one day I was riding and broke my eye socket on a rail. A bunch of skier douchebags started saying shit to me like, "shows her that girls aren't supposed to hit park." So I gave up on progressing and stuck to what I was good at for a while. Got boring for me so I decided to learn snowboarding one weekend last winter and took up park the next.

I don't know why but the guys at my mountain are just a whole lot less respectful of girl skiers than they are of girl snowboarders. The guys who I snowboard with have helped me progress so much more than the guys I used to ski with. You just have to find the right crew. And seriously fuck anyone who puts you down.

Don't worry, you aren't the only one. There are only a few girls at my local hill that ski park, and the whole park is dominated by guys. Sometimes when we fall after trying something new or attempting a trick, I would hear snickers and giggles behind me. Don't let this get to you- I ski park because I love to do it! The people who ridicule you are in a lower position than you and just don't pay attention to them :). Next time, bring a friend with you, it actually helps. I have a friend who is new to skiing park. It feels better to learn new tricks with them, and actually feels more comfortable. Anyways, don't let the douches get to you and have fun skiing.

There are usually only one or two other girls in the park at my hill on a good day but the guys are usually cool about us being there and actually give pointers from time to time. (there will always be some douches tho) We also have ladies park night there there where the crew will set up mellow features for beginners to hit and close the park to all the guys except crew and instructors. Those nights are by far the best nights of the season even tho most of the gals board, its still nice to be surrounded by estrogen for a change.

i've skied for as long as i can remember but have always been intimidated by park.. this year was my first year actually having a crack, i loved it more than i thought i would.. the boys i ski with were super encouraging but they let me do my own thing which really helped (i hate when people watch me learn things) so i managed to throw wobbly 3s and hit a small rail by the end of the season :) i'm pretty stoked to be able to do something in the park now

Yayyyyyyyyyy!! You go girl! You da illest.

yea seriously don't let insecure people bring you down. its awesome that youre trying! if you dont fall a bit and feel humbled at the end of each day, youre not progressing. just be confident in what youre doing and thats seriously stupid that anyone would laugh at you for that, thats their problem.

M@n. YALL just need 2 laugh a little more and have more fun.

I think erry time i bail, I'm the one laughing the hardest at it. Then people just chuckle too and its all G.

i deffinitly am always having the most fun on the mountain compared to anyone.

HAVE FUN. SKI HARD. AND WHEN IN DOUBT, SLUG IT OUT.

yeh i found it super helpful to just relax and do everything for fun, if you fall you laugh it off and get back up, just start at the start and slowly try work your way through new things :) even though you may be an awesome skier it still takes time to get things right in the park :)

This is why I mostly park ski incognito a teenage boy, plus men's gear often is more functional, with extra large pockets etc. With a mask on everyone just assumes I'm a guy, and for some reason compliments mean more. "yeah dude!" from the chairlift makes my day way more then a "you go girl". Since I know they actually liked my skiing and weren't in any way taking my gender into account.

There are almost no girls who ride park up here but then again there just arent many girls in mantana. I remember when I first joined park crew I was the first lady in the history of big sky to get that job and a lot of people were stoked now pak crew has had an influx of girls applying this year which is super rad. I dont really ski park anymore because it hurts too much (nerve damage and other residual shit from wrapping my leg around a tree) but i still love getting in there and filming or shooting photos for the homies

It is very rare that I see chicks (on skis) in the park, few more snowboarders but still not a lot...Thats fucked! Don't let them get in your head!! Do you!! You're out there doing what most girls on skis would consider crazy. Work hard, when you nail something new, there's no better feeling in the world. I can barly stay on a rail some days and most of my guy firends are just stoked to see me trying. Confidence and commitment are key. Invest your time!

I like flinging myself at shit from time to time. All we have going on in minnesota really. Rail and street game strong

I Ride at Heavenly and Northstar Mainly! Lets get connected and ride together! I live in South Lake Tahoe but am trying to progress, and falling comes hand in hand with that! Just gotta get up and try it again!

I am the only park skier at my home mountain, Sucked ass at first but once the guys realized I wasnt in the park to impress them they have all started to help and support me. Almost all of them and snowboarders too
