the one with the orange rubber around it

had mine for maybe sixish years and it's run fine for the most part, maybe unplugged it prematurely just as much as the next person

and lately it just hasn't connected properly, sometimes it runs but doesn't show up on the computer or doesn't even run. other times it runs just fine

Og cord broke a minute ago so been using a regular usbc-usbc cord. lately it just doesn't seem like the cord fits snuggly into the port, could that be why it's not connecting

fair warning i maybe dont practice the best upkeep on it, carry it regularly and toss it in my backpack when im on the go

what do you think, time for a new one probably?

Hard drives will eventually fail no matter what, even the best ones. You could try backing up everything and reformatting the drive, that could fix the issues.

I would say if that helps, keep using it just make sure you have everything important backed up. One day the drive may never mount again and it's pretty expensive to get data extracted.

I suggest you get an SSD drive if you don't alread have one, far more reliable and durable.
