Kona Scrap and stuff

ive been looking into the scrap and stuff bike, i realize there both dj bikes, but i want it for everything........whats ur opinion....or waht other bike should i take a look at that is under a grand

i've got a stuff from last year and i love it. although it's listed as a DJ bike, its more of an all-round freeride hardtail. it's not the best in urban or hardcore DH, but it does handle well in all conditions.

the scrap is similar to the stuff but it doesn't have the same strength. the frame is slightly different and slightly less strong so it can't withstand as much as the stuff can.

in my mind, i'd go for the stuff because it has much more value than any of other other bikes in the kona DJ series. if you compare the scrap to the stuff, you'll realize that you get a much better bike for only a couple hundred bucks more. if you compare the stuff to the roast, you realize that you dont get much more for another 600 bucks or so.

if you're interested in checking out other bikes, i'd recommend the norco sasquatch. its a bit more than the stuff but there's upgrades in several components that make it worth it.

before you buy, just check out the bikes at the LBS and see which one fits your riding style best.

ahh well im pretty much going from a little bmx into Mtb, i want a bike that cant withstand the shit i want to put it through(trail riding-everything) for a decent price, prefereably 1000 or less

gotta be a bit more specific man...lotsa people coming from BMX like to head into urban or trials. if you're gonna be doing everything, with an emphasis on freeriding, then i'd recommend the stuff, the sasquatch, and the devinci hucker. the hucker is the best bike of the three but it also costs 1500 or so.

since your limit is 1000, the stuff would probably be the best choice. but i'm recommending a bike based on my style or riding, which is trails, DH, some freeride, and some DJs. if you want to head into urban, i've got some other ideas for ya.

oh yea, check out the giant STP 1. incredibly sick bike that i love. slightly more street/DJ oriented bike when compared to the stuff but also slightly cheaper

I agree, go with a the chase, you'll be paying your money's worth. While with kona scrap and stuff, you pay more for the name, plus they come with shitty components.

mmm I got my bike, helmet, dianese leg armour, elbow pads and a tough lock for a little under $1500Cdn cause I was nice to the people at the store and they gave me $250 off the bike and half off all the accessories, otherwise it should have been around $1700 for everything at least.
