Knee brace?

For those who've had a bunch of knee problems, specifically ACL injuries, what knee brace have you / do you use? I've been looking at asterisk, seems to be a decent write up on saga's website about them, but I'm looking for other options.

only 6-8 weeks left till I can ski!

I'm currently using a Don Joy Defiance for skiing prior to ACL surgery

this spring. I got it because it was the most easily accessible brace

at the time. Don Joy has a rep that works full time at the Orthopedic

Center and you can have your brace the day after your insurance goes

through.

I would not recommend a DJ though. They slide around a lot while

skiing and are not very comfortable. After surgery I plan on getting a

CTI brace. My brother has been using a CTI brace for the last few

years after his ACL surgery and loves it. He also had a DJ for a year

after his surgery and had similar problems to me. The CTI brace seems

to provide the same stability, but the entire interior is rubberized so

it stays in place much better while skiing. There is also not any metal on the backside of the CTI brace which makes it more comfortable while sitting on the chair.

I have also been curious about the Asterisk braces. I have seen them around for the last few years, but don't know anyone who has actually used one.

I've had a Don Joy for five years now and it's still going strong. And I also wouldn't get one til you're close to 100% as your leg will get quite a bit bigger with rehab.

This, ive blown out both knees and have 2 don joy's they slip around a bit but they work great once you get them on there good. i waited the full 6 months post surgery on one and 8 on the other so that my leg would be about as big as it would get so i wouldnt have slop with it. I would only reccomend Donjoy to a friend, cti seems good but i feel like the dojoy hold you in better.

I have a DonJoy brace, I love it. I don't have problems with it slipping around at all, actually, and I know it's saved my ass a couple times. I never was able to regain full range of motion after surgery (too much scar tissue, I had to have a second surgery which didn't fully fix the problems I had) and this brace has for sure kept me from added pain due to my ROM issues. I love it.

I use 2 custom fitted don joys and they work great for me in every way. Never tried any other brands though so I can't really compare.
