Kingpins vs. shifts

looking for a full heel piece touring binding for a pair of Moment wildcats. Pros cons or suggestions helps, thanks

I'd say neither but depends on what you want to do with them. Unless you want to be skiing jumps a lot on these skis imo something like a G3 ION LT can do very well, even for hucking or spinning off natural features.

Go cast. If you’re riding a normal wildcat inbounds that you plan to tour on I wouldn’t trust any binding besides cast. With that said haven’t had any problems with my shifts but I’ve only ridden them a handful of times just touring and too many people complain about them.

Save some time and check our kit out. It is what you're looking for and will last you seasons to come. Hit us up for a NS discount. That goes for all of you reading this thread. silas@casttouring.com

I'd go with the Shift or a Cast system. If you plan on skiing these inbounds quite a bit, the Kingpin is going to hold you back, and I'd only consider something tour specific (Kingpin) if you were mounting up Wildcat Tours and using them more or less specifically in the backcountry.

A few of us at Moment spent the past season on the Shift. People have had minor issues, but they can all be avoided by setting up the binding properly and testing the AFD plate on some carpet in your house. Personally, I've been happy with my pair on my powder / touring setup.

Quite a few of our athletes are on the cast system for their touring setup. Allows for efficient climbing (pin setup) and aggressive charging on the way down (Pivot 18). I've heard nothing but great things in terms of performance from them.

CAST is the ultimate freeride touring binding at the moment. Also the cheapest option if you have extra pivot 18's around. Shift is a (distant) second place.
