KILLINGTON RESORT OPENS 10/29 AT 10:00 A.M.

Killington Resort welcomes skiers and riders back to the slopes for the

kick-off of the 2011-12 winter season on Saturday, October 29, 2011,

nearly nine weeks after tropical storm Irene devastated the Northeast.

Thanks to Mother Nature, Killington received nine inches of natural snow

in the last 24 hours and our dedicated snowmakers will continue to make

snow as well as expand the terrain as long as conditions permit.

Skiing

and riding will be on advanced terrain only on the un-groomed Rime

trail, providing roughly 600 vertical feet of terrain. No beginner

terrain will be available at this time.

Hours of operation will

be 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 pm on Saturday and 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on

Sunday. The K-1 Gondola will provide uploading and downloading, while

access from the top of the K-1 Gondola down and up from the skiing and

riding terrain will be via a short walk on the Peak Walkway.

This

weekend, lift tickets are $39 for adults (19-64), $33 for Young

Adults/Seniors (13-18/65+) and $27 for Juniors (7-12). Season pass

holders who have not activated their passes may do so at the Snowshed

Sales Center beginning at 9:00 a.m. Saturday, October 29.

Beverages,

hot dogs, chili and light snacks will be available for purchase at the

base of the North Ridge Triple Chair and the K-1 Lodge will be open for

ticket sales, lunch, guest service, retail and restrooms.

Killington

Resort anticipates skiing and riding on the upper mountain terrain

through Sunday, October 30. Our crews will re-evaluate the conditions on

Sunday afternoon and determine the operating schedule for the following

week. Check here each day after 4:00 p.m. to see if we will operate the

following day.

If conditions permit, we will have a few small terrain park features but not a full park. We're trying our best but it depends on how much snow we can make tonight.

Its cool that you guys are opening and all, but $40 to ski a 600 foot ribbon of death? I'd rather go to Mount Snow to hike rails and have my 10 bucks go to a good cause.

he has a good point though.. Im staying in chester VT tonight which is closer to killy than snow. but i would much rather shred for 1/3 the price, for a good cause, and have a few features set up.

Yea but Mt. Snow is not running a lift, and running the gondola AND the North Ridge costs money. If they charged 10 dollars they would be losing money. Can't make it this weekend Killington but be sure to see me there next week.

Mt snow is running a lift.. see here http://mountsnow.com/pre-season-launch-pad-rail-jam/

"The details (weather permitting, of course):

We plan on spinning the Discovery Shuttle (lift #28) from 10am – 4pm both Saturday 10/29 and Sunday 10/30.

Tickets for lift riders and hikers alike will be just $10 at the Clocktower Building starting at 9:30am with all proceeds going towards local Irene recovery efforts."

expect me being there, pre-season park shots looked dope! I hope your landings dont get bombed out in 15 minutes like Mt. Snow's did...

They might get bad this weekend, mostly icy not bomb holes.

The landing on the last down rail had so many death cookies in it at the end of the day yesterday. The cannon box is the best feature up imo, too bad I only hit it the last 2 runs fuuu. Corugated tube needs a lip, ollie on features are so dumb.

Killington...you should really consider putting in a longer flat box....and the DFD......That would make my preseason. ;D

looking for a partner to split two for 1 with tomorrow. We are getting there around noon. we have 3 people and you can shred with us for sure. after the coupon it will about like 20$ for lift tix. PM me if you wanna shred tomorrow.

YMR

agreeded... although i just did tail presses on it all day. but still. and i felt that the first down rail was wicked short. oh and an urban style lip on the corrugated tube would be nice =). just saying

Yeah, both the rails are short too haha, I can barely poke out a good overcrook... and a lipslide takes me more than halfway down the rail.

I would love a nice flat box with nice lip on that's good for getting my learn on. Or the smaller dfd. Last years set up was perfect. I would not mind that exact same thing.

NEED A RIDE TO KILLINGTON THIS WEEKEND. If you are from or going through the Keene, NH area I would be more than willing to throw down some gas money.
