Killing people in the park

There are currently things happening at Blue in that respect. I can't say much more than that, but there is an education of sorts going on right now.

yeah i guess dan kid and snowlerblader kid hate me, at least thats what they told my friends at liberty. then the got pwned

I have been screaming at people in the past, but now I am jut going to file a weekly report to management.

Agreed, keep the suggestions coming via email and the box in the top lodge. So far they have been getting noticed, but we need more people to make the suggestion. I am also pushing for it on a weekly basis.

they are just jealous of your style miller. hucked 9s over 10 foot jumps shouldnt get you third place in a slopeSTYLE competition. kids need to learn how to control their whole body in the air, not just how fast they are spinning. and on the note of this thread, we need park passes, now.

lets just land on more 12 year olds who stand on the landings of jumps and inujure them so ski patrol has to deal with it. then management will see it's necessary

crazy motorcycle helmet skier did that yesterday and ski patrol went nuts... its about time they do something in the park to control the assholes

Did he really??! Thats tight. Ya guys make sure you write e-mails to the management of our local mountains!!! Saying they are necessary on here is just preaching to the choir.

Yeah managment will see they have a bunch of asshole adolescents who are turning away their bread and butter (families). You guys are going about it all wrong. How about firmly but without yelling/cursing, telling people what proper etiquette is.

I watched a kid a BC start out for the big hit at the top. A skier downhill of him also started at the same time (Doesn't the downhill skier have the right of way anymore?) The uphill punk new it was coming but buzzed the kid anyway then yelled at him. The Punk could have waited 30 seconds and not have had to deal with any of that, it was a slow day. Rubbing elbows and cursing at kids is not the right way to educate people in the park. Did you guys always know to look for more expirienced jumpers dropping in from up high? I doubt it. Maybe Papasteeze's kid knows, but hes really young. He grew up with a park. I had a season pass at Blue the first year they had a park. It consisted of a lame table that every weekend we would spend hours digging out into a gap with a 6foot kicker. You guys are lucky to have this stuff but you act like it is a right. You act like everyone should know how to behave. It would be nice if all the skiers knew what the rules of the park were. It would also be great if teenagers knew what was acceptable behavior in society.

holy shit man, i was just kidding with that post...but seriously, park passes or some sort of education is needed to keep people from getting hurt and keep skiers like me and my crew progressing the sport with a clean and squid-free park....calm down a little

"you act like everyone should know how to behave"

if you dont fuckin know then you shouldnt be there in the first place. there is a reason why park passes are a good idea, and thats to keep people safe... not to turn the "bread and butter" away. i almost landed on a 9 year old kid the other day that was following his dad through the park. his dad is the one who appologized to me for bringing him in there since he didnt know what he was doing. "Did you guys always know to look for more expirienced jumpers dropping in from up high? I doubt it." yes. actually i did. again... if you dont know how to ski the park... then dont.

who are you? like you, i've had a pass to blue since before they even had a park. who are you to call any of us assholes without knowing us? some of us assholes dedicate our weekends to teaching the little kids the right way to ride through the park, whether they want to learn how to slide a box, do a 3 on a jump, or just ski through to watch their friends. some of us also help maintain the features in the park. and yes, since our parents were rational human beings, they taught us to always look uphill before you merge back onto a trail after taking a rest on the SIDE of the trail. therefore, it was common sense to us to see look uphill for someone who might be coming our way after using a park feature.

Also, we do try to teach people what proper etiquette is. Today, i spoke with an instructor who took his lesson through the park. I explained to him why it was unsafe for his students to be in the park unless he taught them some basic park rules, which he did upon my request. I've also spoken to several ski patrollers about the situation. One, for instance, skied down the stairs of the handrail feature and fell. My friends and i waited about 2 or 3 minutes for him to get out of the way so we could use the feature. my friend slid the box rail, only to find the patroller still standing below the stairs. the patroller started yelling at my friend for not waiting for him to get out of the way, but quickly calmed down when we explained to him that we had waited for him to move, gave him sufficient time, and that he should not be standing below such a feature. He didn't realize the intended use of said feature, and was glad that we had taken time to explain to him how to use it, and how not to use it, instead of just cursing him out and skiing away.

I've had plenty of close encounters this year with people skiing across lips as i am about to hit a jump, skiing across landings while i am in the air, or otherwise sitting in blind spots where they should not be. while the case you witnessed at bear very well might be an extreme, it happens far more often than it should. if you can't see the need for park passes for the higher level parks, you are blind. a different set of rules is in place in the terrian park. the downhill skier does not necesarily always have the right of way. for those who know park etiquette, it is the person who has called out their drop in that has the right of way, and unfortunately, calling out your drop is like a foreign language around here on a crowded schoolgroup night or weekend. You shouldn't have to worry about people sitting on the landing of a jump, or coming into a rail from all angles just to use the lip of it as a jump off to the side. essentially, what it comes down to, is that people need to practice common sense. until we have a way to detect whether people are capable of such a feat, park passes are the quick and easy solution. that way, you have to have some sort of competency in park etiquette as well as overall skiing etiquette to be allowed in the advanced park, so those of us who know what's going on wouldn't have to worry about whether someone knows who has the right of way or not, we could focus on our skiing and pushing our skiing ability, not the kid who just got stuck on top of the battleship box.

^longest post ever justin, but well spoken. i couldnt agree with you more, we all have tried to be cooperative and repect people and their enjoyment of the mt, but there comes a point where the people just looking to ski the mt need to stay on the mt and outta the park. it becomes a real hazard to both the public and us jibbers when there are uneducated people riding around clueless down sidewinder or whatever park there is at any mt. people need to be aware of what they are getting themselves into and the managment should stress the orange terrain symbols as much as they stress the difficulty of a double diamond or a mogul course. I only hope that people will begin to realize that it is a real hazard to all when a less than skilled skier goes throught the park and rolls over all the lips and landings and i can only hold my breath until someone gets seriously hurt because of an inexperienced person being where they arent supposed to be.

i use to curse and shit at ppl, it got nowhere.. and im sick of getting cut off by noobie kids that dont know the park rules. when i call drop, anyone that gets in my way is going down regardless becuase when you call drop you have the right of way on the feature as my local ski patrol says. untill the park passes come around, the drop rule is in effect and i like it.

Yeah - the the uphill skier has to be aware of the down hill skier. HOWEVER!!!

In this day and age when you are hollering drop and continually get "cut-off" by down hill skiers who can't hear you or don't know what it means and then have to trudge back up to get back to the Drop in spot.... WELLLL.... I have nearly grabbed many a person and asked didn't you hear the drop call behind you?

What ever happened to look up before you drop? That is what is missing here. You should always look up to see if anything is coming before pulling out. I think anyone over 16 with drivers liscense understands this, whether or not they practice it.........

well i guess every mountain just needs to install a giant PA system in the park so every one can hear us call out our drops and then if they r where they dont belog it sucks to be them

There are so many people at Blue who dont belong in the park, especially the lower park, most of them either move all the snow away from the jumps or get in the way when you are moving. Also there is alot of hating on others, no one seems to want others to do well

This weekend i went and hit 2 jumps in the jumpline and then stopped to wait for my friend. Three little kids about 9 0r 10 years old with their parents went after me and before my friend and all 3 kids ate it about 30 feet before the landing. The one kid layed on the landing for like 2 minutes so my friend figured the kid was up and decided to go. Turns out the kid was still laying on the landing and my friend almost landed on him. Ski patrol was right there and came and flipped out on my friend and almost took his pass. Then ski patrol flipped out on me because i was standing near the jump telling my friend when it was safe to go. I told the ski patrol that it was an accident and those kids had no reason to be hitting those jumps in the first place. He flipped out on us and then the mom came down and flipped out too. I got soooo mad but just said thank you and skied away. but something really needs to be done about these little kids.

i have had a problem when i yell drop too. especially at the pipe. when i yell drop at the pipe i always get cut off by at least 3 people. so now i yell drop and if someone goes i yell as loud as i can STOP!!!! right there. and 90 percent of the time the kids stop and i go and they get stuck hiking back up.

yeah park pass for bear and blue i hope.... not only does it keep noobs out but make featurs better... and whoever said people dont want others to progress i hope that isnt how it is at blue... thats sucha bad vibe to learn in, if people can get better everyone needs to push eachother not rat on eachother... just my opinion

i was yelling drop to this guy at the top of the halfpipe and he just kept going so i got pissed but then when i got to the bottom he was talking to this other guy in chinese so i guess he didnt understand me

ahhhh we make fun of the racers sooo bad and the wprc freestly team members who cant even straight air a 35 foot table
