Does anyone have a tips to quit smoking cigs that has helped YOU quit?

I need stuff besides the well known methods such as going cold turkey, the gum, the patch etc.... ive tried all those.

has anyone quit smoking and if so what is the trick cause i literally fein for cigs like a crack head...

im tired of fucking killing myself and want to stop sooo bad and everyone just keeps telling me thats all the initiative i should need but i try and i start getting the shakes, im extremely irritable and cant eat. so then i have a smoke and i feel fine.... its pretty fucking bad.

I had nothing better to do so i googled it

  1. Pick a quit day Choose a date within the next two

or three weeks to quit. Having a deadline makes it easier to plan how

you will handle the people, places and situations that make you want to

smoke. Try to choose a time that is not particularly stressful. But

don't wait forever for the "perfect" day - pick a quit date now and

    work with it.
  2. Chosen one or more proven quit-smoking methods

Your chances of success are greater if you combine quit methods like

counselling, self-help guides, the patch and other medicines. Learn

more about methods to help you quit smoking. Choose the methods that will work best for you. It also helps to:
    • List your reasons for quitting - health, family, money
    • Write down the things that can replace smoking: healthy alternatives like exercise, or a new hobby
    • Speak

with friends, family, and colleagues who can give you support. Tell

them about your plan to quit, so it feels more real to you
    • Start

making the lifestyle changes that will support your plan - leave

cigarettes at home when you go out, remove the ashtrays from your home
    • Consider joining a support group. Some people find it helpful to talk to others who are also trying to quit. Contact your provincial Lung Association to find a support group in your community.
  3. Work your plan
    • It's your quit date. Be firm that you won't smoke.
    • Review your plan often. Knowing how you're going to handle the urge to smoke will help you better cope with cravings
    • Avoid those people and situations where you will be tempted to smoke
    • Go for a walk instead of a smoke.
    • Find a hobby that keeps your hands and mind busy
    • Clean your teeth, your clothes, your house of that stale tobacco smell
    • Be positive. You are choosing to be smoke-free
  4. Celebrate your success
    • Believe in yourself and your plan
    • Understand that it takes time to re-learn smoke-free habits
    • Remember, that quitting is a process, not an event
    • Though

your recovery begins within hours of your last smoke, it takes at least

three weeks to make a new habit. Don't be discouraged if you slip. It's

part of the process. You are not a failure. Review your plan and ask

yourself how you can do it differently next time.
    • Reward yourself

im asking more of like how people deal with the withdrawl symptoms... i can handle the cravings or "urge" its just when i start shaking and cant sit still im just like fuck it... i guess you just have to have a few nicotine fits to get off of them...

Withdrawal symptoms come with the territory of quitting. I had to give up coffee because I was getting caffeine headaches. The first week was TERRIBLE because I always have coffee in the morning when I get up. But now, weeks later, I get up just fine.

You just have to deal with it. Being strong is key. Being able to tell yourself NO and actually commit to it is what you need. It's all in your mind.

ive heard that if you hold out for 30 minutes or so the craving will just sort of subside, drink water, eat candy, sunflower seeds, basically do something repetative and it will go away.

man i wanna quit to i think the reason im addicted is thats its jus something to do. and it's more of an oral fixation with me i just like smoke coming out of my mouth. good luck bro

maybe (and i really have no clue if this will work) you could roll your own cigs but put something else in instead of tobacco. i know there are lots of herbs you can smoke (not like kitchen spices, but just herbs you can buy), so maybe once you do that you will get the crave to smoke out of the way, and not get the nicotine buzz? i donno, maybe it will work. Good luck man!

i was thinking maybe start with your normal number of cigs for one day, and then as each day goes on, cut down by one cig. as the number gets less and less, it will get harder and harder, so maybe stay on that number of cigs for a couple of days until you feel you can cut one more down, and eventually you'll get down to 2, 1, and then 0. i've never heard of anyone trying that, so it might be a little experimental, but try it if you'd like/

read this list of additives, pick out the ones you personallly consider to be horrible things to put in your body, and when you feel like a cigarette remind yourself of the shady shit they put in smokes.

a friend of mine actually did that to quit smoking. she said it worked well, unfortunately 3 months later she's back to smoking again.

quitting and staying strong for an extended period of time is fucking hard. my friends have no willpower, they will quit for like 3 weeks then pick it up again. its stupid

i'm totally with you though. i really want to quit smoking, its just become part of my lifestyle so its going to be super hard. im going to try and quit cold turkey, mind over matter sort of thing, and for me smoking herb when i want nicotine helps.

about how to deal with withdrawl symptoms find a more healthy repetitive thing to take your mind off smoking when you're fiending. chew gum maybe? i hear working out helps a LOT, like going for a run, or riding a bike, and exercise produces endorphins, so hopefully those would help counter act the nicotine.

good luck dude! stay strong!

Straight up. DO IT. IM ON DAY 5 RIGHT NOW. once you get over the hump of three days clear sailing. if u cant get yourself to start cold turkeying, buy a new pack, take out one cigarette, light the end so its burnt then put it out and bak in the pack. contune smoking the cigs but when u pull out the burnt one, no matter how many are left, you throw the pack away immediatly. do it u fuckin poon u feel soooooo good u have no idea no more stanky cig smoke all on your hands and shit eww

try picking up some new less harmful habit...sun flower seeds or something of the sort. something you put in your mouth would probably help most. when you feel the craving pick up some seeds instead of cigarettes.
