When Subaru re-did the Forester in 2009, it won Motor Trend SUV of the year. It's built on the Impreza platform if I am correct, so it has good handling, and it seems to be big and small in all the right places. The Forester was the OG crossover before before crossover was even a term. The computer controlled AWD system is really nice too, and the newer ones have a 5-speed automatic, plus if you get the XT, you're looking at a nice ski whip to carry you, 4 friends, and all of their shit.

We were going to but an old 05 outlander but we found out if we lease a brand new car we a much less expensive monthly payment. Also when the lease ends ill be going off to college anyways.

If you could get something slightly bigger get a Toyota 4runner (like barely bigger). I drive one and they are pretty damn amazing. Incredible in the snow, and beasts off road, even when they're stock. Unlike the cars you posted they use a truck platform (compared to a car platform) so they're much stronger. Check it out.

Or I would check out the 2011 Outback. My dad just bought one the other day, it's AWD like the Forester but it's a little lower. There is a much better gas mileage, unless you really need an SUV. The car is so roomy, also the roof rack is very practical to attach/detach a skibox. It's pretty fun to drive, you can choose between manual/automatic. When in manual, you shift using paddle shifters on the wheel.

I don't know that much about it, but those were my first impressions..

once my mom drops the car were deciding on off to me shes getting this car. tried it in CO two winters ago. loved it.

Yeah, those lesbians have it down dude.

They must appreciate the car-like handling mixed with tons of space and great build quality.

Trust me, when I can pack my car with my whole crew in for a ski trip (more than one day of course) and have just enough room to spare (even with the largest thule)... well im just happy whipping in a lesmobile.

On vacation in south carolina our rental car was a kia sportage... Most disappointing engine you will ever use. You step on the gas, hear it roar, then 5 seconds later it inches forward. Not the most comfortable interior either.

dont buy a kia or hundai. Both those cars fucking blow . There is a reason they are so cheap. Same with mitsubishi they fucking suck balls. As much as i hate to say it, subaru forester or outback are solid cars. Me personally, i hate those crossovers based on car platforms. I think they are extremely useless vehicles. Trust me, my mom has a hyundai, which is the same as kia, and they are so fucking awful.

those cars do suck but they hold up forever, my moms hundi has 120000 miles on it and it runs like a mexican from the cops. it does suck dick on roomyness though, can barly fit 3 people it with ski gear

kias are the worst. they are cheaply made and are uncomfortable to say the least. youd be better off with with a subaru forester or a nissan xterra

everything about hyundais and kias suck. There awful made cars. I know someone who was paralized ina hyundai because of how poor they are. Even though they pass us specs, they still suck. If you want long lasting car, becasue 120,000 isnt a lot. Get a honda, or toyota.

i dont like kias, my mom has a sportage and its a horrible ride it feels like nothing is there but if you want something that will last hers is going on six years and she bought it new and there have been no problems

At least you're not me. I paid 9k for a '03 forester and I totaled it 3 months later.... but I still drive it. Soooooo busted, but at least it rides nice.

get a jeep dude. best decision ive ever made. if you get the V8 its got some speed, can tow anything, has better traction than any other 4wd (imo anyway, just being 4x4 instead of 4wd makes a big difference), and you get the height advantage.

4x4 can run all 4 wheels at once, 4wd at most only 3 at a time. or maybe thats awd against 4wd, i forget. anyway never driven anything better than my 4x4 grand cherokee

I'd go with a 'yota over a jeep. More reliable and durable. And (from my experience) far more capable in the snow and off road.

LOL!!

your jeep probably has a center differential, pretty much like an awd car.

also, because i know you dont have lockers youre only spinning 2 wheels at a time.

also, you cant tow shit with a jeep that was a stupid thing to say, and 4x4 means 4wd. dont be a dumbass.

op, this is probably what you want:

REAL 4wd, better than a liberty, more room, better mpg and more reliable with a diesel, will actually tow damn near anything. plus if you turn it up a bit its fun as hell to roll coal.

Hahahaha. I love Charmander's car posts. If I ever have the disposable income to buy a fat fucking 2500 or 3500 diesel truck (not a dually) I will buy it just because I love the sound of a turbo diesel and no one fucks with you.

im probably buying a 1 ton diesel truck this winter/next spring.

sooo stoked haha

i got my mom talked into givin me a grand for my truck, and letting me sell her jeep, which is gonns take a big chunk off what i'll need, my grandparents are paying for my first year of college and im starting my job in september, no expenses + a handy boost = new (to me) pickup! haha

diesels are seriously the way to go, gasoline is a bad fuel, and when 1 ton trucks get better mpgs with more power than modern suv's, the choice is clear.

I wish America could make the transition to diesel like most of Europe has. The engines last twice as long, if not more, there is a far better power to fuel use ratio, and they are typically quieter in a smaller engine (can be a plus to some). We keep looking for new technologies for improved fuel efficiency when we can move to diesel for the time being. My only issue is that the price is so outrageous compared to unleaded gasoline.

this worst mistake of my life selling my Ram.

but fourtunataly i have a diesel s10 and am getting about 35 mpg. i have never owned a non diesel. TDi's, cummins, and the isuzu in that s10
