Kenosha Pass

Hmmm...

I have lived in Bailey for 10 years now and not once has the thought crossed my mind that I should go and ski Kenosha Pass!

I feel like it is a perfect time right now to do so. Has anyone ever skiied here?

I was going to come up 285 from Bailey (obviously) and go into the state campground on the left hand side of the pass at the summit. From there there is a trail that goes up toward the aspen trees and a clear meadow. I've ridden my bike there in the summer and was thinking to hike up to the top of the meadow and ski down.

Does it sound like a good idea or has anyone tried it?

i dont feel like there is any snow on kenosha pass. but if there was ever snow up there it definitly has some rolls that look like they would be sweet for jumps. i think guanella is a better option from bailey. i went up there over christmas break and it was fun.

Don't do it without avi gear regardless of how much snow there is. This is not the year or the time of year to go out skiing backcountry by yourself for the first time (I'm assuming you don't ski backcountry very much since you live right by it and haven't skied it before).

i don't think there is any reason to discourage someone away from back

country completely there is plenty of fun adventures to be had below 25

degrees. Plus milkymayo may well know what he is doing.

Sure if he knows what he is doing than have at it!

Otherwise consider educating yourself or having an experienced partner come with you.
