Keeping Camera Lens Clean

Sorry if this is a repost, but I checked the searchbar and Google.

I was just wondering how you keep your lens clean on the hill when its snowing? Not for just shooting stills, but for doing follow cams. Any advice would be great!

honestly though for on hill cleaning just bring a camera cleaning cloth or two to wipe off the lens, everything else is basically maintenance and should be done at home when you clean your camera body too.

I always make fun of PC kids by saying that they're afraid of snow. Didn't realize how accurate I was...

Nope nope nope. Those things are horrible for your glass. Never use those microfiber cloths for anything but spot detailing (getting a single particle off the lens). Use Kimwipes or suffer the consequences.

I also like to put a clear filter on my camera lens just to make sure nothing can scratch the actual lense...would you rather replace a $30 filter or a several hundred dollar lens? Also they are pretty easy to clean off

A 30$ filter will be detrimental to the image quality, furthermore front element replacements are quite often around 100 bucks. At least the two I had done.

Besides if it's a heavy drop your filter will snap regardless and the front element will still get damaged.
