Kayak advice

Looking to buy a kayak to mess around with this summer at the lake by my house. Not looking to get too crazy with the price but also not trying to cheap out completely. Estimating a budget somewhere between 300-400. Also not to familiar with the sizing and how that works either. thanks

I'm all about whitewater so I can't personally recommend anything, but good companies to look at are Dagger, Liquid Logic, Jackson, and Necky. They all make pretty great WW and I'm sure their flat water designs are just as nice.

Definitely check out Old Town. I've used a couple of their kayaks before and they're pretty nice. If you live near an EMS or LL Bean anything there is pretty good.

Best advice: Get a sit on top, for what you want its the most practical thing: Stable, solid build that is impossible to break while still being light and they are easy to paddle everywhere.

Get a canoe.

Or one of these, my grampa has 2 for fishing

Pretty much a kayak, with a 5 or 7 hp honda motor with jet. They are actually pretty fun
