Yo ns, I got a pair of 2012(?) Ar7s, but i was looking to buy some Kartel 98's. Are they nice or should I look into something else? I ski park with my friends, but I need a ski that will also hold up everywhere else. Thoughts?

Yes they are in fact nice haha. In all honesty my favorite park ski I've ever ridden. Just know that they are a fatter park ski and ride as such.

I saw that but it shouldn't be too much of a difference right?

It's super manageable, but 87 to a fairly heavy and stiff 98 is a pretty big step. If you liked your ar7 but want something more versatile I'd take a look at the Magnus'. Again, I really like them in the park, but I've never been into skinnier, lighter skis.

It isnt that big step. I skied 85 wide skis before i got 96 wide revisions and it did take like 5 laps to get used to. And ar7 are stiff too.

ar7s and kartels are both top of the line skis

you will have no problem at all using the 90 something waist and you will love that extra width when youre in crud and soft snow

ive never once wished my 96 waisted skis were skinnier at all. you might if youre a park jock but beyond them, like half of park skiers use park skis with waists in the 90s nowadays

Sorry if I caused confusion, not what I was going for at all... Just that if he likes his ar7's right now, he might want to look at the magnus as it's a better park ski. The Kartel is an all mountain ski that skis well in the park and the FR/Magnus is a park ski that skis well all mountain. Honestly though, you'll be stoked with whichever one you picked, I love my Kartels for everything.

Yea no worries i was just being dumb. And like you said, both fr/magnus and kartel are good high quality and durable skis so you cant really go wrong in this one
