Kartel 116 - 176 or 181??

I am looking to buy the Kartel 116 but I cant decide between the 176 or 181. I am 5'9 170 pounds. I own the K98 in the 176 and it seems perfect. ON3P said I could go either and the guy at the ski shop said to stick with 176. However, every article and thread I read talk about sizing up 5 -10 cm with powder oriented skis. Any advice would be appreciated.

I'm 5 ft 6 ish and 150 pounds. Ski the 176. Got to run them in waist deep snow (ranging from light and fluffy on the top of the run to heavy and wet near to the bottom of the run) on a catski day this year. Plenty of float and performance. I usually ski the Kartel 106s in 171 on non pow days and I don't find the upsized 116's to be a problem.

Think you could do the 181 no problem as you are taller and slightly heavier than me. If you want a touch more maneuverability whilst giving away a bit of float then run 176.

Anyone skied the Kartel 116 that can give some input?

Probably owned the K116 longer than most people. I would say you woul be pretty happy on the 181.

Thanks. How does the ski do in just a few inches of fresh or in chopped up snow a few days old?

The new tip shape is much better in variable conditions than say the older Caylor/Jeffery. I would say it is probably the best performing jib ski in those kind of conditions.

Im 5'9 130ish and ride a 185 Bentchetler. Great for deep shit, cruising around the mountain. A bit heavy for me to throw around on a dime but nothing problematic. Go with the 181

Get the 181 for sure. You probably won't be going through pow skis too quickly, so if you grow you can still use them for a long time. I'm on 185 pettitors and I'm 5'8 and the size is perfect
