for example, how does the member who posted this video with 23k views and 340 upvotes have 7 karma points? Also do things like photo of the day contribute to karma? It would be great to have a write up by one of the admins about how karma is weighted once it gets its makeover
13955225:bueno said:Okay I see what you mean. In the current system does one upvote equal one karma point or Is there any type of rule like that
13955236:Mr.Bishop said:No, its way more complicated than that. That is why it doesn't make a ton of sense, you get points for all kinds of things and then the up/down voting system as a whole applies a modifier for it. That is why you don't see karma go up a few points at a time, it actually is only calculated once per day and the calculation is a really complicated algorithm.
13955343:bueno said:I see, is there any specific reason why a member such as good company with many big videos has less than 200 karma points? I’m sure they’re not getting downvotes in any forums
13955501:Mr.Bishop said:Likely they have done only a few major videos, and the Karma system heavily rewards people that use newschoolers to its fullest - participating everywhere gets you the most points by far.
So if they were to post more in the forums, that score would go up really quickly.
