Make the karma system a text box, where I can just type in a number and hit "Rate".

I fourth this idea.

The current rating procedure is far too tedious and people will be unlikely to participate in rating.

I actually dont thinsk that is such a great idea. it takes 2 seconds to click really fast 40 or so times. it is so easy and makes it so much harder to abuse the system. then, when you have already rated the majority of members you interact with, you can just go into their profile and give em a click, instead of going to a text box, deleting what you wrote, and adding one more. it also makes for more people to give ratings in the 70's and 80's, as supposed to just giving everyone they like a 100.
