j dilla. 9th wonder. nujabes. kanye is good. but not the best. shit j dilla died years ago and rappers are still finding some scrap beats to spit over.
 
Bush said Kanye's insult to him was the most disgusting that happened during his presidency (9/11, unregulating the banking industry, economic collapse, hurricane katrina, no big?). people take Kanye seriously. he's also compared himself to a 5 year-old so i don't know that he can please you in any way other than to simply stop comparing himself to others. saying he talks too much is ridiculous, the only reason this interview was such a big deal is because it's the most he's had to say in about 2 years.

he cares enough about the music industry to voice his opinion, and it means something because since he started G.O.O.D. Fridays the industry has been waiting on his every word. i missed the part where anyone called him a revolutionary, except maybe that bit about how The College Dropout changed things, which was true. i don't think he's made any ignorant comments, but that probably just means i'm ignorant too.

 
Sorry, when I said "anyone", i was referring to people in this thread. Clearly there are people who are offended by him, and those people probably have some sort of malfunction in their brain.

I don't have a problem with him voicing his opinion, if only he didn't talk so much bullshit. Its refereshing in a sense to have someone in mainstream music who isn't all cookie-cutter and perfect... but this sort of bullshit that Kanye does is just a bit ridiculous sometimes. I mean for fucks sake, he started freestyling in the middle of that speech for like 30 seconds.
 
you know, you really have to question how far these delusions run. to me he's just someone who believed blindly that he would succeed and he has. he's done tons of collabs, was noticed by an important artist, has made important music, and is an icon. whether his press is good or bad, no one's going to forget kanye, and he's not going to let anyone. the dude may be 'deluded' to you, but he's the only one who's just telling the world how great he is without being humble about it. he's cocky, but it's not like he sucks at what he does. he has been innovative, and he has experimented with music. no he's not the first to take a leap, but he's still a major part of that leap. maybe he's not the only person to make 8 mins songs in history, but he's one of the few to make experimental music in mainstream hip hop. love him, or hate him, he's still has had major impact, and has every right to brag about how big his ego really is. i don't think it's a delusion at all frankly, because most people who are deluded and have grandiose senses of self importance has absolutely zero self awareness, and do not feel empathy. kanye a, has feelings, b gets down, and c is willing to apologize for fucking up.
 
that is exactly his point.

but a wise man knows that he doesn't know a thing at all. idk .. i think he needs to sit back and accept the criticism and arguments just like everyone of us do. it is objective and opinions that seem to ruffle his feathers so much.
 
i think he's smart, but immature, and that's basically it. he knows he's a big kid, he just hasn't figured out how to cope with it yet.

He is however possibly the greatest producer to have ever lived, shit is transcendental.

Easy there, k'naan. nobody said he was wise. He is successful though. Bottom line, kanye doesn't give a fuck what people say about him and what he's been doing seems to have worked for him.
 
haha once again i'm not vilifying the guy or saying he hasnt accomplished anything, but he's a DECENT-GOOD artist, and he's sitting here comparing himself to the student in front of the tank at tiananmen square and shit, it's just hilarious cause he thinks he's a LOT bigger than he is
 
I believe i did say the word WAS, not IS, in my post buddy. that's the past tense. Thus: When J dilla WAS alive, he WAS the best producer around. And actually DOOM is still coming out with tracks over unreleased j dilla beats. so technically....
