Yeah Kanye, you want us to respect you but then toss around the word retarded like it's no big. You're not one these cultural icon/philanthropists when you use a degrading word in common discussion.

watched the whole thing and was suprised at what he had to say... I dont like the guy but he seems to be happy with the way he is so thats chill i guess. i didnt know he was as smart as he is, he seemed pretty educated from that video and the stuff im used to hearing him say did not go along with that haha
 
he's too smart for his own good i believe, the man is a genius he just lacks the social skills and abilities to interact normally
 
He is probably the best hip hop producer to date. Anyone that smart and creative is bound to be extremely different or abnormal in pretty much all respects.
 
He is a good producer but I'm going to go ahead and pretend I never read that comment.

I made it 7 minutes in. He made a douche out of himself so many times it's not even funny.

Don't get me wrong though, i will still illegally download his music.

Kanye West is by far my favorite rap artist.

(inb4 a bunch of people name a bunch of artists that fucking suck but they think are good because they are "underground" or "real hip hop")

He is so talented and you can hear when he talks that he is actually really smart too. I just don't understand how people hate on him for being egotistical. That's what rap and hip hop is. It's telling people you're the best. And if any artist has the right to have a big ego it's him.

Anyway, I'm psyched for the new album. It will be one of the few albums this year that I actually pay for.

 
all the haters in this thread more than likely didnt even watch the video. He has his head screwed on straight if you ask me. Hes not afraid to stand up for what he is believe in. Whats wrong with that? you take that away from someone one you take away their freedom. So what hes made some bad decisions in his life, so has everyone else. his mistakes are just on a bigger scale. His music is so inspirational and i dont think anyone is going to be ready for his new album. I mean just watch the film runaway and you will see what i mean.
 
no one's oppressing poor kanye, theyre simply saying he's an idiot and has delusions of grandeur. he probably doesnt even know what that student stood in front of that tank for, yet he compares himself to him and makes other ridiculous claims. he's a decent artist but he acts like he's bigger than he is, he talks like he's john lennon or dylan or something.

he used the degrading word because he is degrading the topic. it IS retarded. he could have said "stupid", but that wouldn't cut it. he could have said "really really stupid, like stupider than when Hitler tried to invade Russia stupid", but then nobody would have LISTENED. sometimes, you have to be politically incorrect if you want people to actually give a damn about what you say. the simple fact that the only thing you picked out of this whole interview was the word 'retarded' only proves that Kanye has to be an asshole just to get you to listen.

personally, Kanye's never offended me in ANY way. i'm more offended by the artists who don't say anything and act as if they are perfect. Taylor Swift is going to offend all of her fans when she gets caught doing or saying something "politically incorrect," (and that day WILL come, the only celebs it doesn't come for are rockstars) whereas Kanye can only offend the fans who hold him up to a higher standard than that which he has set for himself.

he has to compare himself to people who care about things, because he can't compare himself to people who don't give a fuck (which is most of us).
 
not disagreeing or agreeing with anyone here, but Dr. Dre is one of if not the best producers... but i do love kanye's music
 
I don't think anyone is "offended" by what Kanye does. I think people who do get offended by him are complete fucking morons. However, Kanye is still an egotistical douche who thinks he is the greatest, most creative and original musician alive. The fact that he compares himself to Andy Warhol, Mandela, that guy infront of the tank etc. is just obnoxious and unfounded. He is a good musician who talks too much.

You say he cares about things and most people don't... Cares about what? Fucking music awards? Just because you're famous and make ignorant comments that can be seen as being edgy or whatever doesn't make you some sort of revolutionary.
