K2 durability doubts

Hey yall, so I recently bought some k2 reckoner 102's and Ive been super pumped for em, but like last week I overheard some kids at a ski shop saying that they broke theirs (k2s) in like less than 7 days on hill.. do you think this is true? Do the reckoner series (or maybe just the 102's) have durability problems. Ive owned several pairs of k2s and have never had any problems on em. Anyone know?

Don’t know anything about the new k2 builds but keep in mind every kid says the same shit about new skis, that they break them in x amount of time. Weird flex for sure

My first pair held up great until I got some nose delam but I got those warrantied (also epoxied them so they could've kept going) the second pair I had I had more trouble early on but I was also skiing at titcomb on shitty crusty rails. Overall if you average the experience out the durability is decent, they didn't explode immediately for no reason

They're not the strongest skis in the world, but not bad either. They're pretty darn light and the core is thinner than some skis, so if you're super hard on your skis, you might find them less durable than, say, a Poacher, which might be a better option if you're specifically concerned about durability.

They’re one of the most fun skis I’ve used. Super poppy and really sick on rails but they aren’t built for park so obviously won’t hold up super well if you’re bashing them on rails all the time

The rivets that they put in the tips and tails almost always come out and end up causing delams. It’s the same with other ski brands that also use rivets in the tips and tails. Don’t know why they put them in, but they do. Other than that K2s seem to be pretty durable

idk man its all talk, I see people snap skis "known to be reliable" on day 1.

Unless they're factions those just break.

I mean, I haven't heard the much about K2 breaking. I think it's just hear say or maybe a couple factory defuncts, who knows.

save ur receipt, 3 year (or two year I can’t remember) warranty from purchase date. I just got recky 112s so I was nervous when I heard the durability stuff but I’ve also heard that the warranty is super legit

[tag=273553]@sullivanob[/tag] is absolutely correct in tagging me on this. I bought a fresh pair of ‘22 reckoner 102’s and within days I had edge cracks and about one week later sidewall had come out and the core was exposed. Turns out putting 3 piece base designs on a park ski isn’t an awesome idea. Super fun to ski though. Would definitely ride em if I didn’t slide rails

In my experience K2s have been bombproof...and then I bought reckoner 102s. After less than 8 hours of park laps had edges pulling out on both skis, no edge cracks. I'd probably buy poachers still. Would avoid reckoners if you plan on skiing park with them although they are a super fun ski for park.

K2 needs to bring back shredditors.

I rode poachers a few years back and I thought they held up really great. I've heard a few negative reviews IRL about the reckoners durability in the park however. Maybe the quality has gone downhill in the past few years?

First gen 102s here. About 300 days on them with no issues. But I barely hit rails anymore so idk about that. That's what the poacher is for. The 102 is one of my favorite K2 skis in a while and I just ordered a new pair for safe keeping.

Reckoners have been known to have a few issues (like sidewall) but just keep your purchase receipt and warranty them if you have an issue. Don’t sweat it
