Alright guys iv done a tun of research, and i still got a few questions and and i need your advice.

So i have skied on the Alpha 1 and loved them felt great, but there more expensive and i dont really take great care of my based, i ski alot of woods and in NH the rocks are all over..I ski 89.67% park and the rest usually in glades/woods or just riding around. I am pretty advacned (not trying to brag just trying to give u a feel) and i love rails and butters just as much as jumps, BUT at my mountain the biggest jump is like 40/45 feet max.

So i dont want to wash out when i i know the Alphas wont, but will the Halos on a 40 footer? and if i get the Alphas will i still be able to have some fun and butter exct??

Also, I am 5'10 165, i could get a pair of Halos 176 for 350 but im afriad that theyll be too small cuz of the rocker...so 176 or 182???

and i was just wondering where to mount them, i rode some that were center mounted, liked them but it was only in park, but then again i ski mostly park, so should i go with the recomended sense the tail is shorter and go dead center?

I know its alot but i really need some help here guys/gals!

tuns of Karma for help!

Hey man,
Just picked up a pair of halos for $367. I am 5'10" 185lbs and got 182s. I made a thread asking about the size on the elf shoe armada skis, and i think everyone told me to go 182. Just got them in the mail today and they look great. I got them to hold me off because my ar6's are taking quite a beating until i can pick up some 2011/2012 Alpha 1s.
I think as you suspect that the halos will be better for buttering, and might wash out on bigger jumps is you dont stomp it, but i just flexed them for the first time today and thought they were pretty stiff, (not noodles)
So I'd probably go 182, and probably pick up the halos, because like 350 for a pair of new armadas is a steal.
hope this helpedMatt

As long as you dont constantly flex the shit of the Halo's they will remain at a medium flex. I'm 5'11" 175 and I have the 182's and they fucking rock. If your doing a shit ton of rails then id go with the 176, if you intend on taking them on medium sized jumps 25+ then go with the 182 fursure. Either way you cant go wrong with either size.

dude I cannot wait to ride mine, had to ship them out to colorado unmounted so I get about 2 weeks on them before the season ends haha.

The swing weight is sooo nice it makes spinning feel so natural. Here is a shitty video of me fucking around on the 182's. 720 on a 8 footer lol. Courtesy of Newschoolers.com/static/images/flash_video_placeholder.png

I have the 176 halo's and im 5,6. Love the skis and they work great for rails and jumps and have a nice not too soft flex. I have hit jumps bigger than 45feet on them and they held up perfectly! You should probably try to get them as close to your height as possible. They do feel a bit shorter than what they are but they still are as long wich can suck a bit on rails but I find it to be mostly a mental thing and that im just scared of hitting the tips in the rail but it always wors out. I definetely reccomend the haloes and their the best ski I have ever skied! Also you should probably get them in 182

I'm 6'3 165 on 176 Alpha 2s. I don't really like the shortness but I don't really notice it either. They're a fun ski with the perfect flex in my mind. They hold up on 40 footers even if you take it to the bottom and yet the rocker still allows you to butter. Fun ski for sure

i have the pipe cleaners (i believe the same base) and wax them like once every month or so. they are showing nothing unusual.

if u can find the alphas cheap i'd say get them over the halos. That was my plan, but I ran outa time and got the halos (settled?) I dunno. Still majorly stoked.
matt

Halos actually ski really similar to Alphas. I'm pretty sure they are very close to the same dimensions, but Halos could be just a tad softer

Will do.
When i ordered my halos the cheapest alpha price was the original $575 from armadas site. now i see that there is a 475 on ebay, but that still is not as low as i got the halos for (367) :)

yeah definitely go 182, I put the halos next to my ar6s before i shipped them out west and it wasn't even that much longer.. soo dont be worried they'll be too big at all.

I got alpha 2s and there a great ski. I got the 182s and i'm about 5'9" 145lbs and my home mountain builds anywhere from 45/50 footers and I've never washed out. I have also skied on my friends alpha 1s but I felt they were a bit to stiff in my opinion and its definitely a con that you have to wax your skis like once a week. Thats just my opinion and I don't know if you've already made your decision yet or not?

Hey guys, Back from my first day in the park at snowmass on the 182 halos.
I am still warming up to the ski, getting used to the way it rides so at the moment all I have done is straight airs and some pipe. I was flying off 40+ ft jumps with no problems at all. I am going to hit the final jump in the triple line which is a 65ft, so I will report later on in these 2 weeks.
Also later I plan on learning some 9s so I will report on the spin ability later as well.
Definitely happy with the purchase though
Matt
